Golden Desert District Qualifier

for the 2023 National Tournament

Predicted Schedule for Speech

All Speech events will have 3 Preliminary rounds, 2 on Friday night and one on Saturday. All competitors MUST attend both days.

All of these times are predicted, as the tournament may be disrupted by protests, etc. A coach or school-affiliated adult representative from the school(s) competing in the debate or a judge for the round must notify the tabulation committee of intent to submit an appeal or formal post-round allegation within 20 minutes of the end of the round. The 20-minute time period begins once the last ballot from all rounds has been collected by the tabulation committee.

Friday, March 31st:

3:45 pm: Begin Arriving at Amplus

4:15 pm: Coach Check-in

4:25: Extemp Prep Start, Round 1

4:35-5:35pm: Round 1, all events

6:00 pm: Extemp Prep Start, Round 2

6:10-7:10 pm: Round 2, all events

Saturday, April 1st:

8:30 am: Coach Check-in

8:40 am: Extemp Prep Start, Round 3

8:50-9:50 am: Round 3, all events

Outrounds--We will do our best to to minimize overlap in round start times for double-entered competitors in Semis/Finals, but rounds themselves will most likely overlap.

10:15-11:15 am: Semifinals (predicted in Oratory)/Finals (predicted in everything else)

11:45-12:45 pm: Finals (for events requiring a Semifinal)

1:30 pm: Awards (National Qualifiers, Yearlong Sweepstakes, and "Of the Year" winners announced!)
