Event Description:

Presentation is to be from memory without the use of physical objects or costume. No manuscripts or notes will be allowed. Selections must be printed published material. Monologues are acceptable. During the presentation, the contestant must name the author and source from which the cutting was taken. Verify the last name and contestant code on the ballot, and indicate the round at the top of each ballot.

The performance must not be less than 5 minutes, nor greater than 10 minutes. There is a 30 second grace period either way. There are to be no hand signals to the performers.

Considerations: Is the selection appropriate contest material? Did the performer use poise, quality and use of voice, inflections, emphasis, pronunciation, enunciation, physical expression, gestures, and especially show the ability to interpret characters correctly and consistently? Was the narrative, if included, vivid and animated? Did the contestant use all of these factors to create an atmosphere in which the audience is carried away by the performance?
