Event Description:
A coin toss begins the round. A coin is tossed by one team and called by the other team. The team which wins the flip may choose EITHER the side of the topic they wish to defend (Pro or Con), OR the speaking position they wish to have (begin the debate or end the debate).
Time Limits:
Speaker 1: 4 minutes
Speaker 2: 4 minutes
Crossfire (between 1 & 2): 3 minutes
Speaker 3: 4 minutes
Speaker 4: 4 minutes
Crossfire (between 3 & 4): 3 minutes
Speaker 1 Summary: 3 minutes
Speaker 2 Summary: 3 minutes
Grand Crossfire (all speakers participate): 3 minutes
Speaker 3 Final Focus: 2 minutes
Speaker 4 Final Focus: 2 minutes
Each PF Team will be allowed 3 minutes of accumulated prep time without penalty.
During Crossfire, the first question must be asked by the opponent of the speaker who just finished speaking. After that question is answered, either debater may question and/or answer at will.
During the summary and final focus speeches, new information may be presented (evidence), but new ARGUMENTS in either are forbidden. An answer to an argument originally presented by the opposition is not a new argument.
Verify Speaker Codes, which side the team is Debating on (Pro or Con), and Speaker last names. Please indicate the round number on the top of the ballot.
