Informative Speaking

Event Description:

NSDA rules for sourcing, composition, and visual aides will be followed.

Directions:

Students will compose and present an original speech of an informative nature. There is no limitation on the topic selected by the student. Students will be evaluated on the strength and originality of their analysis, including their support and organization, and also on the delivery of their material.

Speeches should be delivered from memory without the use of a manuscript. The use of a visual aide for the audience is permitted. Students may not use electronic equipment of any kind, or live animals of any kind (including other humans) in their performance. Students may not physically interact with their audience, or prompt their audience to physically interact with any visual aides during the performance (ex: no passing around photos, or distributing food). Movement is permitted during the speech.

Time Limit: 10 minutes (30 second grace period allowed). Time does not include the set-up or take-down of any aides.
