NIETOC and UK TOC

Our tournament serves as a bid tournament for two major national-level tournaments: the National Individual Events Tournament Of Champions (NIETOC) and the University of Kentucky Tournament Of Champions (UK TOC) for speech events. 

NIETOC will take place in Kansas City, MO on May 12-14, 2017. It offers competition in Dramatic Interp, Duo Interp, Duet Acting (not offered at our tournament), Humorous Interp, and Oratory. Students may qualify via one of three methods. The method of qalification students can work toward at our tournament is bid qualification (for more information on the other methods of qualification, go to www.nietoc.com).

To qualify via the bid system for NIETOC, students must earn two bids in a given event at NIETOC-designated tournaments throughout the country. Bids are earned for the following entry numbers: 

• Less than 20 contestants - 1st place receives a bid 
• 20-34 Entries – Top three receieve bids
• 35-50 Entries – All final round contestants receieve bids

UK TOC will take place in Lexington, KY on April 28 through May 1, 2017. UK TOC offers competition in the following speech events: Dramatic Interp, Duo Interp, Extemp, Humorous Interp, Oratory, Program Oral Interp, and *Prose/Poetry. NOTE: WHILE THE UK TOC OFFERS COMPETITION IN DEBATE AND CONGRESS, THE HARLEN HAMM TOURNAMENT ONLY OFFERS BIDS IN SPEECH EVENTS.

• Less than 25 contestants - Top 3 receieve bids
• 25-72 contestants - All final round contestants receieve bids

*In order for a student to qualify in Prose/Poetry from a tournament that offers Prose and Poetry as separate events, that student must obtain bids in BOTH Prose and Poetry individually in order to be fully qualified. The two bids may be gained at the same or separate UK TOC qualifying tournaments.
