Entries and Fees

Teams may enter as many students in each event as they wish, but only the top three placing students in each event will count towards each team's sweepstakes total.

Single student events will cost $5 each and partnered events will cost $10 each. Drops and adds made after the entry deadline (January 4 @ 5:00pm) will cost $5 on top of the entry fee. You may drop or make substitutions to your entry yourself until January 6 @ noon, after which you must email Ryan Brown. If you need to add an entry after the deadline, you will need to email Ryan Brown.

Speech: We will offer all 14 KHSSL-sanctioned speech events. Since we are holding a flighted two-prelim round tournament, a semifinal round of the top 12 will be held for events with 30 or more entries.  Students may enter two speech events per flight.

• Flight A: Broadcast, Extemp, Improv Duo, Informative, Oratory, Poetry, and POI
• Flight B: Declamation, Dramatic, Duo Interp, Humorous, Impromptu, Prose, and Storytelling.

Congress: Congress will use NSDA rules. Students in congress may not enter any Flight B speech events, but may enter up to two Flight A speech events. A supersession will be held of the top 50% of the contestants after prelims, but the supersession rounds will not exceed 12 contestants.

Debate: Lincoln-Douglas and Public Forum Debate will be offered and will use NSDA rules and topics. Novice debate categories will be offered if there are sufficient entries. We will try to have four rounds of prelims, a semifinal, and final round. Debate students may not enter any other event.
