Event Description:

This track is intended for students who are new to debate or have middle school experience with debate, but know they would like to participate in the Lincoln-Douglas Debate format.
LD Mechanics
Students will learn about the format, structure, rules and roles of Lincoln-Douglas debate. Students will learn about how to plan for each portion of the debate and the role of evidence and prior research in constructing and refuting arguments.

Framing and Genres of LD Arguments
Students will learn about the nuances of differing stylistic approaches in Lincoln-Douglas debate for value and policy resolutions. Novice LDers will learn about the value debating and the framing needed for Value and Value Criterion constructives as well as its philosophical underpinnings. Furthermore, students will learn about fiated/policy Affirmatives and their approach to resolutions.
