Event Description:
1. Speech should be the original work of the speaker.
2. There should be no more than 100 words (Senior Division) of quoted material.
3. The student should have a typed or handwritten copy of the speech on hand.
4. The speech must be memorized.
5. Although orations may deal with a problem and solution, this is not the only acceptable form of oratory. It may alert the audience to threatening danger, strengthen devotion to a cause, or eulogize a person.
6. The TIME LIMIT for OPEN DIVISION is 8 minute with a 30 second grace period.
