World Schools Debate (9-12)

Abbreviation WS
Format World Schools Debate
Entry Fee $15.00
Entry Limit Per School 2
Entry Teams of between 3 and 5 competitors

Event Description:

Schools may register up to 2 teams in World Schools debate (i.e. 6-10 students).

At a minimum, a school must have 3 students per team in order to compete in World Schools, and no more than 5 students may be on a single team.

Rounds 1-2 will be on the prepared motion: This House believes that the increasing popularity of online sports betting constitutes a public health emergency.

Round 3 will be an impromptu motion. All teams will debate in all 3 rounds, assuming an even number of teams.

We will follow all the NSDA expectations for World Schools. This includes - no use of electronic devices during rounds or during impromptu prep, except as timers. (Students may not read from computers or phones during rounds, and may not use computers or phones during impromptu prep.) During impromptu prep, no communication with coaches or competitors outside one’s immediate teammates is allowed. (For example, if there are two teams from the same school, they may not communicate with one another during impromptu prep.)

More info on the style and rules of World Schools debate can be found here. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me for additional World Schools resources. I have some textbooks and other materials that I can share.
