Springfield Catholic Invitational
2021 — NSDA Campus, MO/US
Varsity Lincoln Douglas
Event Description:
Lincoln Douglas debate is one debater vs another singular debater, debating about arguments with morals and values. One debater will be affirmative, the other will be negative. The affirmative will argue for the resolution, while the negative will present the faults of the resolution. An entire debate is roughly 45 minutes and consists of constructive speeches, rebuttals, and cross-examination. Speakers should be judged on speaking ability, argument quality, and their ability to uphold their arguments, tear down opposing arguments, and convince the judge that their plan of action is the most correct.
During 1 “round” a judge will see 2 “flights”. That means they will watch two separate debates occur during the time period at hand.
