Varsity Policy Debate

1.      Format is switch-side.  8-3-5. Five minutes prep time.

2.      National debate topic will be used.

3.      Five preliminary rounds breaking to semifinals.  Rounds 1 and 2 will be pre-set.  Rounds 3, 4, and 5 will be powered.

4.      Awards given through semifinals.

5.      Head coaches are expected to judge this division.  A qualified adult judge must be provided for every two teams.  First year college students with at least 2 years experience of high school Varsity Policy may judge.

 

Junior Varsity Policy Debate

 

1.      Format is switch-side.  8-3-5. Five minutes prep time.

2.      National debate topic will be used.

3.      Five preliminary rounds breaking to semifinals.  Rounds 1 and 2 will be pre-set.  Rounds 3, 4, and 5 will be powered.

4.      Awards given through semifinals.

5.      A qualified adult judge must be provided for every two teams.

 

Novice Policy Debate

 

1.      Format is switch-side.  8-3-5. Five minutes prep time.

2.   National debate topic with the SDFCA novice case limits.

      FULLY END U.S. EMBARGO OF CUBA

     COUNTER-NARCOTICS WITH MEXICO

     ASSIST IN RESEARCH, EXPLORATION AND/OR DEVELOPMENT OF OIL DRILLING WITH MEXICO AND/OR CUBA

     NORMALIZE ECONOMIC RELATIONS WITH VENEZUELA IN ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING: OIL, AGRICULTURE, MEDICINE, OR SHIPPING 

NEG- Students can run Cap K and counter plans.

3.      Five pre-set rounds. Breaking to Finals.

4.      Awards given to finalists and the next two teams based on prelims.

5.      This division is designed for first year debaters only. Second year debaters will be disqualified. (If one partner is a second year debater, put the team in JV)

6.      An adult judge or competent high school junior/senior must be provided for every two teams entered.

1.      Format is switch side.  6-3-7-3-4-6-3.  Four minutes prep time.

2.      January/February national debate topic will be used.

3.      Five preliminary rounds breaking to semifinals.  Rounds 1 and 2 will be pre-set.  Rounds 3, 4, and 5 will be powered.

4.      Awards given through semifinals.

5.      A qualified adult judge must be provided for every two debaters. First year college students with at least 2 years experience of high school Varsity LD may judge.

2.      The teams will debate the January NFL topic.

3.      Five preliminary rounds breaking to Semifinals.  Rounds 1 and 2 will be pre-set.  Rounds 3, 4, and 5 will be powered.

4.      Awards given through semifinal

5.      A judge must be provided for every two teams entered or fraction thereof

 

 Junior Varsity Public Forum Debate

1.      The teams will begin each round with a coin flip to decide side and speaking order.

2.      The teams will debate the January NFL topic.

3.      Five preliminary rounds breaking to Semifinals.  Rounds 1 and 2 will be pre-set.  Rounds 3, 4, and 5 will be powered.

4.      Awards given through semifinal

5.      This division is for students in their first two years of debate. If one member of the team is a 3rd yaerdebater, regardless of events debated, place the team in varsity

6.      A judge must be provided for every two teams entered or fraction thereof

 

Novice Public Forum Debate

1.      The teams will begin each round with a coin flip to decide side and speaking order.

2.      The teams will debate the January NFL topic.

3.      Rounds 1 – 3 will be preset. Rounds 4 and 5 will be powered based on rounds 1-3.

4.      This division will break to Semi-Finals.

5.      This division will be comprised of students with fewer than five tournaments experience in Public Forum debate.

6.      A judge must be provided for every two teams entered or fraction thereof
