Novice Division Rules

Only first-year debaters will be allowed to compete as a novice. This means they cannot have any debate or speech background prior to the 2022-2023 season. 

For example: If you are a varsity member in speech that wants to participate in LD but had no prior experience in the event, you will still have to enter into VARSITY LD.

The only exception for this would be 9th graders. Freshmen are allowed to compete in novice division even if they started debating in kindergarten.
