Tournament Email from 11/16

Hi Friends!

As the subject line suggests, Little Lex is only a few days away. I believe I have shown remarkable restraint in not spamming your In Boxes for weeks already, but there are several important messages to come (including this one). Here are the things you need to know immediately:

1) Registration has closed and the fees have been frozen. You may still drop entries (although you will need to pay for them) and you are still free to change the names for existing entries on your own. Please mail a check to the address on the invoice at your earliest convenience.

2) If you are still under on your judging requirements you will be required to email me the names. You also can't drop your judges or replace them without contacting me directly. Please send that information today, in reply to this message. I will be sending more "personalized" reminders about missing judges tomorrow in order to give folks a little more time to get this done on their own.

3) On Thursday, November 18, I will be hosting a Drop In Open House so that I can answer any questions for the judges who will be joining us this weekend. This will not be a full-fledged judge training session, but I hope to be able to answer any questions judges might have. We WILL NOT be running a judge meeting at the start of the day on Saturday (because we want to run five rounds and finish at a reasonable time, but Tim Averill and PJ Wexler will be available in the judge's lounge to answer individual questions throughout the day, during the tournament. Judges with more questions than that should drop in on Thursday. Please pass the link on to your judges.

4) The schedules for ALL events for Saturday are posted on the Main tournament Webpage on Tabroom.com. Our hope it to release pairings 30 minutes in advance of every round and it is our expectation that ALL COMPETITORS and JUDGES will be in their assigned rooms 10 minutes before the start times listed on the schedules, even if the pairings do not come out a full 30 minutes before round start time. All judges should push start as soon as they realize they have a ballot.

5) Given small numbers, we may need to combine Varsity LD and JV LD. If that ends up happening, we would create as many presets within divisions as possible (given potential odd numbers), and would then let Tabroom do the power-matching. Under those circumstances, we would send medals to the top two JV entries even if they do not have winning records, in recognition of the greater challenges they had to face. The combined event could only be judged by adults, so please let me know if any of your JV LD judges are current HS students.

6) We will be posting a Live Doc. It will look like lots of other Live Docs and will contain the answers to many technological and practical questions. My hope is to have the Live Doc posted on Wednesday, so judges will have the chance to check it out before Thursday's Drop In Session.

7) Some of you still have unlinked students in Tabroom. Please check to make sure ALL of your students are linked -- again, there will be individualized reminders about that tomorrow. Also, some of you still have TBAs, which is regrettable since the Drop Deadline has passed. I think you will actually need to send me the names to fill in for your TBAs at this point -- doing so in response to this message would be great.
