Speech/Interpretation Rules & Schedule

Asynchronous Speech/Theatre Prelims – February 2-5

•         Championship Division will be held in the following events:  Original Oration, Informative 10, Informative 7 (with a minimum of 6 entries), Humorous Interpretation, Dramatic Interpretation, Duo Interpretation/Duet Acting (see split screen requirement), Program of Oral Interpretation, Poetry Interpretation, Prose Interpretation.  (Novice may enter these events and still retain their novice status for other Saturday events.)

•         Novice Division will be held for the following events with a minimum of 12 entries to avoid combining with the Championship Division: Informative 7, Humorous Interpretation, Dramatic Interpretation

•         Three preliminary rounds will be held asynchronously throughout the week of the tournament.  Elimination round competitors will be announced Friday at 6:00 pm.  Elimination rounds will be held synchronously on Saturday, February 6^th

•         All videos links must be submitted with school registration through Tabroom.com.  No emailed links will be accepted.  Links must be in a format accessible to a community judge.  Google Drive, YouTube, Microsoft SharePoint, and Dropbox links are encouraged.

•         It is the responsibility of the school and coach to ensure all video submissions have proper sound and video and are shared with permissions that allow a community member to access the file.

•         All video submissions must be a continuous recording without any editing or breaks. 

•         All rules questions will be resolved using the following priorities: KSHSAA rules, if none then NIETOC rules, if none then NSDA rules, if none then tournament discretion.

•         Video submissions are required by 5:00 pm on Monday February 1^st.  No late submissions will be expected.

Synchronous Speech/Theatre Elims – February 6^th

•         Elimination rounds will be scheduled based on the final number of entries in the event.  All elimination rounds will be held the morning of Saturday, February 6th.

•         Round times will be released on Tuesday, February 2nd
