Synchronous Limited Prep Rules & Schedule

Synchronous Limited Prep Events - Saturday

•         Championship division will be held in the following events:  International Extemporaneous Speaking, US Extemporaneous Speaking, Impromptu. 

•         Novice Division will include the following events: Extemporaneous Speaking (students may choose from IX or USX questions)

•         Extemp topics will be derived from both current news sites, academic journals, and research from think tanks.

•         Three preliminary rounds will be held the morning of Saturday, February 6^th.  Elimination rounds will be held starting at 5:00 pm on the 6^th. 

·        Limited Prep Procedures

o   Students will be expected to turn on their cameras and leave them on once they have drawn. 

o   Students are required to remain in frame on camera from the time they draw until the time they speak. 

o   Extempers will prep in a monitored room once they have drawn

o   Impromptu speakers will be immediately placed in their speaking room and will have ten total minutes to prep and speak in front of their judge

o   All impromptu speakers will be asked to perform in the required order unless they are a finalist in a synchronized event

o   All sections of Extemp and impromptu that draw at the same time, will choose from the same questions or prompts
