Event Description:

JV House Congressional Debate is an individual legislative debate event modeled after the United States House of Representatives. Competitors debate legislation using parliamentary procedure, alternating between affirmative and negative positions.

Speeches are up to 3 minutes, followed by 1 minute of questioning. Judges evaluate argument quality, evidence use, refutation, organization, engagement with the chamber, and respectful decorum. This event is intended for novice and junior varsity competitors and follows NSDA Congressional Debate rules.
