Speech: SPONTANEOUS SPEAKING (Spont)
JUDGES: if you are judging this event please go to TAB STAFF to receive the Spont Prompts & instructions on how to give students the prompts. In some cases, students can / will deliver the envelope of prompts to your room.
Spontaneous Speaking (Spont) is a live-speaking event similar to Impromptu where students choose 1 prompt out of 3 options provided in-round. Students may use one segment of up to 3 minutes of preparation timewithout online access to brainstorm their ideas & outline; NO INTERNET IS ALLOWED during prep time. Students deliver a speech in one segment of up to 5 minutes of speaking time; using less prep does not allow more speaking time. The speech is given without notes and uses an introduction, body, and conclusion and can be light-hearted or serious.This local event is similar to the NSDA event Impromptu but has different rules as outlined above.
