Event Description:
PUBLIC FORUM (PF) DEBATE
In this 2-on-2 format, students debate a current-events topic provided by the National Speech & Debate Association (NSDA) . Winners of a coin-toss in round choose which side to debate (PRO or CON) OR which speaker position they prefer (1st or 2nd), and the other team receives the remaining option. Over 45 minutes, students present cases, engage in rebuttal and refutation, and also participate in a “crossfire” (similar to a cross examination) with the opportunity to question the opposing team. Community members are often recruited to judge this event. Format:
