Original Oratory

Event Description:

Students deliver a self-written, memorized persuasive speech on a topic of their choosing. Topics typically span political, social, and cultural problems for which speakers propose actionable solutions. Limited in their ability to quote words directly (150 words maximum), competitors craft an argument using evidence, logic, and emotional appeals. Speeches may be no longer than 5 minutes with a grace period of 30 seconds.
