Extemporaneous Speaking

Event Description:

1. The tournament director will prepare a list of topics on current domestic issues.
2. The student will draw three questions and return two before they begin their preparation period.
3. The student will have 30 minutes of time to prepare their speech. There is a seven (7) minute time limit with a 30-second grace period. Students who exceed the grace period should not receive first place in the panel.
4. The student may use one note card with a maximum of fifty words on the card.
5. The student is responsible for providing their own extemp files.
6. Laptop computers and tablet devices may be used by students but may not be used to receive information from online sources.
7. Movement is allowed.
