There will be an initial entry cap of 5 entries per event per school and if events don’t fill, we will open that up.

Competitors will be required to submit the links to a Google Form. The Google Form to upload links can be found here: https://forms.gle/m5iDpnMeroXLUmVJ7 VIDEO LINKS MUST BE SUBMITTED BY APRIL 16, 2021 AT 5 PM.

1. Students will perform their own original spoken-word poetry. Each student should prepare 1 poem on the content-appropriate subject of their choosing. Poems are to be no longer than 5 minutes. There will be a 10 second grace period.

2. Poems must be the original work of the student and the student may not use poetry written by other poets.

3. Students may choose to have a chapbook, notebook, or black book with them with no penalty. However, a chapbook, notebook, or black book is not required. Students may not use their cell phones other than to record themselves performing. Any additional material students bring with them may not be used as a prop.

4. Students will be evaluated based on both their performance and on the quality of the material they present, as the judge sees fit.

5. Students may not use any music/drum tracks/beats/ outside media of any kind, except those that they make with their own bodies (“beatboxing”, etc.)

6. Ranking and speaker point assignation/tabulation/tiebreakers/etc. Will follow the same rules as with all other Interpretation events.
