Event Description:

In Public Forum Debate, teams argue a topic of national importance in terms that a common person would understand. Similar to Policy Debate, Public Forum Debate is conducted by teams of two people, alternating speeches for their side. Students may use non-Internet-connected laptops. Debate will feature Novice and Experienced subcategories. Experienced teams should feature at least one eighth-grader who competed in debate last season. Novice teams should include seventh-graders and/or inexperienced eighth graders.

This season's topic is Resolved: For-profit prisons in the United States should be banned.
