PoFo Debate - 7/8th Grade
Event Description:
Public Forum Debate. 2-3 person team. Teams prepare original cases with evidence for both sides. Sides are assigned each round. This debate includes a time to present the case, a time to counterargue, time for questions, and a time to summarize.
We will follow these times: 3-3-2-3-3-2- 1 min. prep. -2-2. 1 min prep in round.
Topic: Starting 2021-2022, each public school in Oregon should be required to have a therapy pet on staff.
1st Proposition Speaker - Presents the entire Prop case - 3 min
1st Opposition Speaker - Presents the entire Opp case - 3 min
Crossfire for P1 & OPP1 P1 & OPP1 - Question and answer each other - 2 min
2nd Proposition Speaker - Counterargues OPP case & extends PROP case - 3 min
2nd Opposition Speaker - Counterargues PROP case & extends OPP case - 3 min
Crossfire for P2 & OPP2 P2 & OPP2 - Question and answer each other - 2 min
Common Prep Time - Each teams strategizes for the summary - 1 min
Both OPP Speakers* - Counter, repair, and summarize. - 2 min
Both PROP Speakers* - Counter, repair, and summarize. - 2 min
*In the case of three person debate team, this is the position for the third debater.
