Hello, This is Sandy
I judge both PF & Parli Debates in both the middle school & high school categories.
Genera Preferences: 2-4 contentions, combination of statistics and explanation for each, appreciate specific explanations in detail.
QUALITY>QUANTITY.
Do not bring up new arguments near the end of the debate.
No speed preference but make sure you are clear and cohesive.

Hello
I'm a junior PF debater at Spence with some parli and congress experience.
TLDR: i vote off the flow. i like frameworks (they are very cool), but please don't run prog. organization is key, signpost, extend concisely, weigh well, keep my flow neat, ACTUALLY INTERACT WITH EACH OTHERS ARGUMENTS. if none of that is done, i'm voting off the best argument.
Case: Warrant everything, I'll take any contention as long as its not just random card names bunched together and as long as it is logical.
Cross: I don't flow cross but if you say some funny quotable lines, I'll write it down and up your speaks by 0.1+
Rebuttal: Number. Your. Responses. Frontline if you are second. Don't just drop random card names, warrant it and implicate heavily. I like "even if" responses + unique responses not just from a block doc. You have to give interactive arguments otherwise I'm judging off of case. Do some early weighing!
Summary: Frontline and backline but in an organized manner! Extend your case and your defense (it's not sticky!) + turns and such. Weigh heavily (if you want the key to my heart, metaweigh or use link-ins, short circuits, AND PREREQS)
Final: my debate partner takes this speech seriously, so I will too...just do a good one. When you know you know!
No postrounding (I will laugh AT you) AND NO STEALING PREP (you'll get speaks docked depending on how nice I feel) I will time you to keep track of prep lol.
Speaks and such:
Do your best to keep the narrative clear, try to keep my flow neat, and you'll have no problem getting high speaks.
But...if you want to boost your speaks, do these:
- Read a card name as "Chu 23" 0.2+
- Show up to round in sunglasses 0.3+
- 0.5+ if you are able to get 5 out of 5 on thecriminal sentence guessing game
Have fun and don't be bigoted (I am #culturallycompetent according to Tabroom)!

Hi - I've judged several tournaments over the last year and I love hearing different points of view.
First -- make sure I can understand you. If you go fast and mumble, I won't hear your points and will have a hard time following your arguments. Ideally, enumerate your points so I can follow them and keep track of them throughout the argument. If you go fast, make sure I can get your points! Otherwise, focus on what's most important and share that with me.
Second -- use your time! If you have 4 minutes, make the most of it.
Third -- Cite your sources. It is important that you do this so I can compare evidence. Then tell me why those points are important.
Fourth -- (but probably most important) Be respectful. Good sportsmanship and being kind is important to me. If you insult or talk down to the other team, I will not be impressed.
Lastly, listen to the other team.
Good luck!

Hi! I am Ava.
I use (she/her) pronouns and I am a current policy debater at Brooklyn Tech.
email: adobran4859@bths.edu
I am a tech > truth judge, which means that I flow everything throughout the round.
Cross will not be flowed, if there is something that should be on my flow make sure to include it in your speech.
Spreading is fine, just make sure that you are speaking clearly.
Be respectful of your opponents and have fun in the debate round. Arguments that are racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, Islamophobic, anti-Semitic, etc. are not ok.
Also please don’t go over time in speeches and cross, you can finish your sentence.
Constructive
Rebuttal
- Signpost please
- Give me an off-time roadmap from here on forward
Summary
- Extend your points from Constructive and Rebuttal otherwise it doesn't make it onto the flow and doesn't factor into my decision
Final Focus
- Really, just tell me why you won the round
- Write my RFD for me and make sure to weigh impacts
- Make sure to bring up any key voters
+ speaks if you make a Taylor Swift or Lana reference

some things i prefer :)
i guess im tech>truth but if your argument is cray cray im afraid i can not believe it, so pls just make it sound convincing to me so i dont ask myself too many questions. in rebuttals i expect weighing as early as first rebuttal and i want every block and turn to be properly warranted. if you dont weigh in rebuttal ill be sad but you ABSOLUTELY must weigh in summary, even second summary is a little too late for me. Weighing and defense/offense should be extended till ff if you want me to evaluate it. i like assertive crosses but not aggressive crosses. oh yea and i dont evaluate theory :( im a traditionalist.
FOR SPEAKS
(+.5 speaker points if you make a taylor swift reference :) Im a die hard taytay stan)
Auto 30 if you buy me a starbucks drink :) suprise me !!

Hi! My name is Ryan and I use he/him pronouns. I debated for Mark Twain I.S.239 for 2 years, and am now a high school junior at BTHS.
I don't have many preferences, but these are a few that I have, ranked from most important to least important:
1) Be respectful, I will allow cursing if you feel the need to, but any speech directed to others that can be offensive will not be tolerated. Slurs will also be completely intolerable. (This reflects mostly on speaker points)
2) Do not speed debate. It does not matter how much you can say if I cannot comprehend the speed at which you are speaking.
3) Please speak if you want to speak. Do not cut someone off or outside of your speech, but if you are in cross for example, and want to speak, SPEAK. If you do not feel that you are allowed to, ask to speak!
I will not flow crossfire, but I do pay attention and it will be counted to speaker points. My timer will be visible to you guys. I will start timing as soon as I hear you begin, just start with a countdown.
If a card is called, and you cannot provide it, it will be ignored!
If you have any questions, feel free to email me at ryanfung.ny@gmail.com

Hello,
I currently go to Hewitt and have been debating since 7th grade, throughout the debate I will be flowing every speech with an exception of crossfire which I will not be flowing but listening very carefully to. If there is something important from cross it is extremely important that gets brought up again in the round, it's also super important that your speeches are well organized and clear. I don't mind if you speak fast just don't be obnoxious and please be respectful of your opponent while being confident. Please be well-versed in the rules of pf before the round begins and if you want to pre-flow try and do that as quickly as possible. I will give feedback at the end of the round if it's requested, and lastly don't stress! This is supposed to be fun, and if you have any questions feel free to ask before the round starts or after.
Thank You!!

Hi, my name is Ava Ilardi, and I am a freshman at Susan E. Wagner highschool in staten island. I’ve been debating for a year, and so far it has been a very beneficial tool in my academic life.
Some tips:
- I strongly encourage you to stand while you’re giving your speech, as I find it boosts your confidence and makes your delivery very clear
- Make sure you enunciate and speak evenly and clearly
- I will be voting based on which point weighs more based on the mechanisms of scope, magnitude, timeframe, and reversibility, probability, and priority
- I also encourage you to ask your opponents for evidence during the crossfire! Do not assume your opponents evidence is rock solid. Ask for clarification.
- Provide evidence to support your claim. If you do not provide evidence, I will consider that point invalid.

When judging a debate, there are a few important things that I look for. The first thing that I look for is good sportsmanship. All debaters should show respect to one another and encourage each other. Next, it is important that each debater has a clear understanding of their topic which should be supported by reliable sources. Lastly, it is important that the debaters are able to rebut their opponents points.
Thank you,
Alana Itkin

Hey, I'm Christian
My pronouns are they/them.
Add me to the chain: cllewellyn9029@bths.edu
No hate speech will be tolerated- no homophobia, racism, or sexism- just don't be any of the isms please. Any of the following will result in an auto-loss
I'm a policy debater for Brooklyn Tech, so therefore I am a bit new to public forum but I am learning the ropes. , Please make my ballot easy for me- make your case clear and tell me why you win the round.
I am a tech > truth judge, which means that I flow everything throughout the round, even if I know it isn't true.
I won't flow crossfire- if you get an answer out of the team please include that in your speeches or else I will not weigh it.
PLEASE Make sure you have clear impact calculus and framing. Summary is the ABSOLUTE LATEST in the round for you to start impact weighing.
In summary, also please extend your points from both constructives and rebuttals that you want me to weigh.
In final focus, tell me why you win the round, weigh your impacts, and write my RFD for me.
I am fairly comfortable with flowing spreading, but please be understandable or else I will miss flowing your arguments and it will be harder to vote for you.
Good Luck and have fun! :)
Also extra points if you make a mistki or lana reference

Hello! I currently go to Beacon Highschool and have been debating for 5 years.
I am a very technical judge, I will be flowing every speech. Crossfire will not count towards my ultimate decision. I expect teams to preflow prior to the round, once every team is in the room the round should start as soon as possible. Since I have been debating for so long I don’t mind fast speakers. Do not bring up new evidence after 2nd summary, it will not count on my flow. I will give feedback at the end of the round if it is requested.
This goes without saying but rude/offensive behavior will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
The most important part of debate is learning something from every round so do not stress about this and just have fun. If you have any questions feel free to ask me before the round begins.
Thank you for taking the time to read this & I will see u soon!

I'm a Junior, and I've debated pf for a couple of years so I'm a flow judge.
Tech > Truth
Cards are great but I'll probably prefer warranting over cards without warranting.
Please comparatively weigh. Tell me why your impact is better than your opponents.
EXTEND AND SIGNPOST
You have to extend your argument in summary or ff otherwise I won't take it.
I'm okay with speed but don't spread
I'll listen to cross (maybe) but bring it up in a speech if it's important.
Do not misconstrue evidence
If a card is very very very contested I might call for it otherwise I won't
I don't love progressive arguments (theory, k's, etc.)
And obviously be respectful, no yelling, and absolutely do not be racist, sexist, transphobic, homophobic, ableist, etc.
Have Fun!

Hi everyone! I'm a sophomore and I debate PF for Stuyvesant. (she/her)
My email: sofiapisarevadebate@gmail.com
(I want to be added to the email chain)
How I evaluate:
-Tech>Truth
-Warrant all of your arguments.
-Signposting is very important, esp if you want high speaks.
-Extend your case through all of your speeches, otherwise I won't evaluate it.
-Extensions should not be blippy, you must extend your uniqueness, link, and impact.
-You must be consistent in the back half of the round; if you didn't bring it up in summary, don't bother bringing it up in final focus. I won't evaluate it.
-You must weigh. Please clearly state when you're moving on to weighing, and weigh your turns, or else I won't grant you offense.
-I will evaluate prog if you can explain it clearly and simply.
Some logistics:
-Please do not go over 10 seconds in speeches.
-I'm fine with spreading, but be reasonable lol
Be a decent person, or else I will give you low speaks. Let me know if you have any questions before round!

HI! I am a former public forum debater, so I flow my rounds. Make sure to be polite and respectful to your opponents during the round. I will be able to understand you as long as you speak at a tolerable pace and articulate your speeches. If I can't hear an argument properly I don’t include it in my flow, and it won't be counted towards my vote. I also don’t flow cross, so make sure that you bring up any of those points later in the round. Lastly, I award speaker points based on debaters who articulate their points clearly.

Hi! I'm a freshman at Hunter College and I debated in high school for two years!
Reminders:
- I encourage you to stand while reading your speeches! (not mandatory if online)
- I will vote on whose impact weighs the most; scope, magnitude, reversibility, prerequisite, time frame, probability
- Ask for evidence! If you are unable to provide evidence for your argument, I will consider it invalid.
- I will judge you based on your speech and delivery, NOT crossfire, but remember to poke holes!!
- USE UP ALL YOUR SPEECH TIME! i will have to deduct speaker points if you have more or less a min remaining (reemphasise your points, read evidence, etc)
- I have no preference regarding speed or volume, as long as you enunciate your words!!
cashapp me $20 to get 30 speaker points ???? (this is a joke)

I’m currently a Freshman at Georgia Tech.
There are a few things to keep in mind during the round:
-
Make sure to watch speed. I can basically understand anything except the fastest speeds, but you have to make sure that your opponents can understand you. If you’re gonna go really fast just tell everybody before you do so.
-
I listen in but don’t flow crossfire.
-
I’m generally a flow judge. That means that presentation matters little to me; you should focus on getting arguments out there.
-
I won’t be too happy if you run theory or K’s, but that doesn’t mean I won’t vote for you. Just keep in mind that you are taking a risk by running prog.
-
Be respectful throughout the round. Everybody has worked hard to get to this round and that should be respected.
To get my ballot:
-
If you want an argument weighed at the end of the round, bring it up in FF and summary. I generally won’t look at arguments that don’t show up in both FF and summary.
-
That being said, I’m not super strict on extensions. You don’t have to strictly extend warrants, argument tag, impacts, and cards for me to consider an argument. Of course, the more you extend, the better, but I don’t keep specifics out of consideration if they aren’t perfectly extended. For example, if you extend an argument tag and warrant in both FF and summary, but only extend the impact in summary, I won't immediately take the impact out of consideration.
-
Please, please try to signpost and give an offtime roadmap. The more you do this, the better my flow will be, and the likelier I am to catch your arguments.
-
Debate your style. Whatever I’ve put in this section are suggestions; you don’t have to conform to that exactly. I hate when I look at a judge’s paradigm and they tell me to debate in a specific way that I’m not used to. Take these as recommendations, not strict guidelines.
If you have any questions, just reach out to me at my email (villardilan22@gmail.com) or ask me before the round. I’d be happy to answer any questions I receive!
