some general stuff:
the more and more i do debate the less i care about what's put in front of me. when i first started debating, i cared very deeply about norms, the resolution, all that jazz. now, if you're willing to read it i'm willing to judge it. i'd rather see an in depth debate with a lot of offense and clash than anything else, and i don't care whether you do that on a T flow vs. a k aff or a cap flow vs. a policy aff.
my least favorite word in the english language (of which is not a slur) is the word "basically." i would rather listen to everyone for the rest of time describe everything as "moist" than listen to you say the word "basically." i've hated this word for years, do not use it. make of that what you will.
it should be said i at one point read a parody aff that involved my partner and i roleplaying as doctor/patient during the 1ac. i care exceedingly little what you want to do with your 8 minute constructive, 3 minute cx, and 5 minute rebuttals - but those speech times are non-negotiable (unless the tournament says otherwise). play a game, eat a salad, ask me about my cat(s), color a picture, read some evidence; but do it within the constraint of a timer.
(this "time fetish" is less of a "respect my time" thing and more of a "i need to know when i can tell tab who i voted for" thing. i take a lot of pride in getting my decision in before repko, and i wish to continue that streak.)

i do not follow along in the speech doc. i try not to look at cards. be clear, be concise, be cool. debate is first and foremost a communicative activity. i will only read y'alls ev if there is serious contention, or you tell me to. i HATE DOING THIS, and this very often does not go how people think it will.

i do not play poker both because i am terrible at math and because i have a hard time concealing my emotions. i do have pretty bad rbf, but i still think you should look at me to tell what i'm thinking of your speeches/cx.
speaker points:
Misgendering is bad and a voting issue (at the very least I will give you exceptionally low speaks). due to my gender identity i am hyper aware of gender (im)balances in debate. stop being sexist/transphobic jerks, y'all. it's not that hard. additionally, don't be racist. don't be sexist. don't be ableist. don't be a bad person.
Assigning speaker points comes down to: are you memorable? are you funny? are you a bad person? Did you keep my flow neat? How did you use cross?
I usually give in the 28.2-29.9 range, for reference.
ethics violations:
i consider ethics violations clipping, evidence fabrication/omission of paragraphs between the beginning and end of the card, and violence (e.g. calling Black people the n word as a non-Black person, refusing to use correct pronouns).
for clipping: a recording must be presented if a debater brings forth the challenge. if i notice it but no one brings it up, your speaker points will suffer greatly.
for evidence miscutting (this is NOT power tagging): after a debater brings it forward the round will stop. if the evidence is miscut, the team who miscut the evidence will lose with lowest speaker points possible. if the evidence is not miscut, the team who brought forth the violation will lose with the lowest speaker points possible. i will not entertain a debate on the undebatable.
for violence: i will stop the debate and the offender will receive the lowest speaker points possible and will lose. the person who is on the receiving end of the violence is not expected to give input. if you misgender me i will not stop the debate, but your speaker points will suffer.

PUBLIC FORUM SPECIFIC THINGS:
i find myself judging this a lot more than any other activity, and therefore have a LOT of opinions.
- time yourself. this includes prep. i'm not your mom, and i don't plan on doing it for you. the term "running prep" is becoming very popular, and i don't know what that means. just take prep.
- don't call me judge. "what should we refer to you as?" nothing! i don't know who is teaching y'all to catch judges' attentions by referring to us directly, but it's horrible, doesn't work, annoys all of us, and wastes precious time. you should be grabbing my attention in other ways: tone, argumentation, flowability, humor, sarcasm, lighting something on fire (please do not actually do this). call me by my first name (luke) if you have to, but know if you overuse it, it has the exact same affect as calling me "judge."
- PLEASE don't assume i know community norms, and saying things like "this is a community norm" doesn't automatically give you that dub. i entered PF during covid, and have a very strong policy background. this influences how i view things like disclosure or paraphrase theory.
- even more so than in policy, "post-rounding" me after a decision is incredibly common. you're allowed to fight with me all you want. just know it doesn't change my ballot, and certainly won't change it the next time around.
- i will never understand this asking for evidence after speeches. why aren't we just sending speech docs? judges are on a very strict schedule, and watching y'all spend five minutes sending evidence is both annoying and time consuming - bolding, because i continue to not get and, honestly? actively hate it when everyone spend 5-10 minutes after each speech exchanging evidence. just sent the whole speech. i don't get why this isn't the norm
- i'm fine with speed and 'unconventional arguments.' in fact, i'm probably better for them because i've found PF aff/neg contentions to be vague and poorly cut.
- PFers have a tendency to call things that aren't turns "turns." it's very odd to me. please don't do it.
- i'm not going to delay the round so you can preflow. idk who told y'all you can do that but they're wrong
- if you are using ev sending time to argue, i will interrupt you and make you start and/or i will tank your speaks. stop doing this.
- i'm very split on the idea of trigger warnings. i don't think they're necessary for non-in-depth/graphic discussions of a topic (Thing Exists and Is Bad, for example, is not an in-depth discussion in my eyes). i'm fine with trigger warning theory as an argument as long as you understand it's not an automatic W.
- flex prep is at best annoying and at worst cheating. if you start flex prepping i will yell at you and doc your speaker points.
- PLEASE READ THIS IF YOU WANT TO READ THEORY:I hear some kind of theory (mostly disclosure) at least once a tournament. I usually end up voting for theory not because the theory is done well, but because the other team does not answer it properly. I do like theory an unfortunate amount, but I would prefer to watch a good "substance" debate than a poor theory debate

As a judge, I value clear and organized argumentation that demonstrates a thorough understanding of the topic. I prefer debaters who are well-researched and able to support their arguments with evidence and examples according to their given framework. In Parliamentary, I appreciate teams who focus on clash and weigh the competing arguments and their impacts. In Lincoln-Douglas, I expect debaters to engage with the philosophical implications of the topic and provide a clear value framework that is consistently applied throughout the round. I expect all participants to adhere to the principles of fair play and respectful discourse. It should be a given that rude, disrespectful, and aggressive behavior will not be tolerated and will result in low scores or disqualification.
I am an active judge in speech and debate for the past six years. I have judged various types of debate ranging from Public Forum, Policy, Lincoln Douglas, Congressional, and Big Questions debate for various levels for High School students for tournaments around the world. One of my favorites parts of judging is the opportunity to listen to both sides of the argument and the ability to support students' growth in speech and debate.
1. Debate Style:
- I hold a particular regard for well-structured and organized arguments, supported with evidence.
2. Speed and Clarity:
- I prefer debate that is clear and well-structured at a medium and conversational pace.
3. Framework and Resolution:
- A well-structured framework that explains both sides of the issues. I prioritize effective refutation and clash between the affirmative and negative positions.
4. Evidence Quality:
- I prioritize well-researched and credible evidence. Clear citations and the ability to explain the significance of evidence are of utmost importance.
5. Creativity and Innovation:
- My approach in debate tournament is to be as creative as possible in convincing about your side of the argument. I prioritize thinking outside the box and not just what is stated on paper.
6. Cross-Examination:
- I value effective cross-examination that seeks to clarify and challenge key points.
I will be flowing the rounds on argumentation, refutation, and framework. I prefer debate that tends to focus on real world impacts and meaningful difference in our modern-day society. Overall, please be respectful of your peers and debaters. My focus is to support you to have the best argumentation and for giving an equal chance for both the affirmative and negative positions and creating an educational focus for all debaters. I look forward to judging your next debate.
I am a flow judge. If I don't understand you, I won't put it into my flow. That said, there is a difference between speaking fast and spreading. You can speak fast but if it is incomprehensible (spreading), I will miss the argument and it didn't make it onto my flow. Also, do not expect me to understand the topic; it is up to the debaters to allow me to understand the round. Please clearly state your impacts in your final speeches.
In LD, there are 4 minutes of prep and I generally don't allow for flex prep. There's cross-x time for a reason. You can ask for evidence during prep but not clarification (again, that's what cross x is for).
I weigh on framework and impact analysis. I look for arguments that are both logically sound and that have proper evidence to support it. I would probably describe myself as leaning traditional but I am comfortable with progressive arguments.
I have judged Congress, Public Forum, Lincoln Douglas, and Parli, but I am most familiar with LD.
I would also request that there should be a non-aggressive and friendly cross-examination and class. Be respectful to each other. Keep track of your own time and your opponent's.
Hi there, I've been judging debate (LD, PF, Congress, Parli, WSD) for about 6 years. I am tabula rasa when it comes to judging a round; don't expect me to know the topic. It is up to the debater to provide a framework that best upholds their arguments. I flow but if you spread, send me (and your opponent) your speech doc. That said, I don't want to look through pages and pages of your speech doc with a couple of words highlighted on each one. If you couldn't tell, I'm more familiar with traditional LD and have little experience in circuit debating. I weigh on framework and impact analysis. I like evidence and logical link chains with clear warrants. I like clash. I don't like falsified evidence, misleading evidence, disclosure theory or bad theory. I especially won't vote on disclosure theory if your opponent seems like they are new to debate or genuinely tried their best to reach out. I'm less familiar with K's, so make sure I can thoroughly understand them if you decide to run them. I'm pretty flay, so make your preferences accordingly. Please be respectful to one another. Being rude, disrespectful, racist, homophobic, and aggressive is not cool and will result in low speaks and/or loss.
World Schools:
I adhere to the rules of WSDC, which means 40% content (what you say), 40% style (how you say it), and 20% strategy (why you say it). My evaluation of content includes good analysis (logical, relevant, important, tracking evolution), quality of examples, and thorough rebuttal. Debate in good faith, without straw-manning the other team's arguments. Style includes appropriate word choice, eye contact, body movement/hand gestures, voice projection and control, speed/variation of delivery. Strategy would be the choices made in motion interpretation, time allocation, prioritization, speech structuring, correct identification of issues in the debate, taking adequate POIs, weighing and use of comparisons, and relevance of material to the debate.
Proposition has the burden of proof and has to define the motion, being clear and fair to both sides. They should describe their characterization of the status quo and present substantive arguments in favor of their case, and where appropriate, present a solution to the identified problem. The opposition should oppose the prop's motion and probably have their own substantives. No new constructive material or POIs in the reply.
There are only 3 people on the bench for each side. Non-speaking team members and other spectators must not make signs or signals to debaters on the bench and must maintain room decorum. POI's should be brief and no more than 15 seconds.

General Approach:
I evaluate rounds based on the arguments presented and will not intervene with my personal opinions. I strive to judge impartially and objectively, focusing on the logical structure, evidence, and impact analysis provided by debaters.
Speaking Style:
I prioritize clear, reasonable speech. If you speak too fast and trip over your words, I will struggle to understand you, which could hurt your ability to communicate your case effectively. Clarity matters more than speed—persuasion and logical reasoning win rounds, not how quickly you can speak.
Arguments & Weighing:
• Logical consistency and linkage are crucial. I will evaluate how well you connect your arguments to their terminal impacts.
• Clash matters. The better you engage with your opponent’s case and provide effective refutation, the stronger your position.
• Weighing is important. Tell me why your impacts matter more than your opponent’s—don’t make me do the work for you.
What I Won’t Evaluate:
• No theory cases. I will not vote on theory arguments\. Keep the debate focused on the resolved.
• No new arguments in Final Focus. You may extend evidence, but brand-new arguments at this stage will not be considered.
Final Thoughts:
Keep it clear, structured, and reasonable. Debate is about persuasion and logical argumentation, not speaking speed or technical tricks.
7/10 on speed, so long as your tags are clear, you're not using speed to obfuscate or misrepresent evidence, and voters are delivered intelligibly.
Policy: I am most comfortable judging a stock-issues oriented policy round. In particular, solvency arguments can be decisive. Generic DAs are fine, but a specific link to the 1AC will always be more compelling. K's are fair game as well, but I tend to want a more specific link for a K than a DA. Common Ks like the Cap K or Fem K are exceptions to this - those Ks are common enough that the Aff should be prepared to debate them regardless. I take a tabula rasa approach to any question surrounding the "role of the ballot," so if you win ROB in a particularly favorable fashion, it can set you up very nicely.
LD: I am extremely comfortable evaluating framework arguments. I prefer a Value/Criterion framing structure for LD, but won't complain if you do something different, so long as you meet the resolution (assuming it isn't a K aff - I tend to view Ks as Neg ground).
General: I expect a bit more than simply regurgitating pieces of evidence. Analysis isn't necessary for every piece of evidence, but if there is a string of cards building some sort of overarching argument, one or two sentences wrapping it up shouldn't be too much to ask. This is especially true for any rebuttals!!
There is almost no chance of me voting for an RVI, unless there is a case of in-round abuse.

I also value respect in debate. K-AFFs/FW-- I read K-affs but this doesn't mean I'll auto-vote for you. Explain to me your theory of power and how it operates in the round. I like it when the K aff has some stable advovacy, so that I know what I am voting on but if that isn't you tell me why it doesn't matter. On framework, a good impact turn goes a long ways. For the NEG I'd prefer you have some sort of TVA that is related to the aff in some way. K v K debates are so fun, but they tend to get very messy towards the end so make sure you start out with your offense and what you're winning. I don't find the argument that K-affs shouldn't get perms to be persuadable at all.
K's --- Love them. have a link to the aff and impact it out. I am more likely to vote on a K without an alt, but you should tell me you are kicking the alt. If you are going for the alt please for the love of god explain how it solves your llnk.
CP's - a good advantage counterplan has my heart. don't forget a net benefit. for the AFF I think too often bad counterplan's are answered with too many cards, I think your aff can answer a lot of these don't get lost in the sauce. Tell me how the perm works, saying the words perm is not a perm in of itself.
Theory -- I can't sit here and say don't go for theory because I was in fact a theory girl, but uh please explain it. Give and interpretation and explain your violation. I think condo can be excessive, but that's for y'all to debate about.
DA's --update your uniqueness <3. I love a DA smackdown, politics DA was my favorite 1NR to give. Tell me why the DA turns the case, I need an explanation and not just the tagline.
T --hot take but these debates can be pretty fun. I think they get pretty messy when your just reading blocks at top speeds. Tell me why X aff explodes into 100 different affs. Use caselist to give me other topical affs. I LOOVVVVE a good T debate.

I've been debating, coaching, and judging for a very long time. Most of your coaches would know me as "Hath". I debated for Wichita State Univeristy and qualified for the NDT and debated in elims at CEDA Nats and many national tournaments. I have coached college students at four year universities and community colleges. I have coached Novice teams to the College Novice National Championship Final Round a couple times. I have coached high school students and helped at Urban debate leagues. What I am trying to say is that I have been exposed to a lot of different types and styles of debate. I have judged College, High School national circuit debates as well as local league debates. This is your activity and I am willing to come in and listen to the activity you have decided to present to me. Now with that said I am very open to listening to any and all types of debates I of course have my preferences and you will have to be willing to overcome some initial distaste at first.
1. Kritik-, I didn't debate them. In fact I did everything possible to make sure we beat them. I will listen to them by all means and have voted on them several times. Just because I didn't like them and you do doesn't mean you should be scared to run them in front of me.
2. I like strategic debate, show me how things play out and how the other teams responses play into your game. Make sure you tell me what my voting for you means. What happens if I actually vote for your impact calculus. I like it.
3. I was kind of a jerky when I was a debater. I have kids now (one of which is now a college debater) and have grown up a little bit. Just don't be rude and condescending to the other team.
4. Still not a fan of critical or performative affirmatives. Your aff should have a plan and you should advocate that plan in the round in my opinion.
For all the types of debate I judge I keep a pretty tight clock. You should do your prep and getting stuff during prep. You should have minimal unaccounted time. I am running a clock and my clock is the time of the round.
Finally just have fun, this is really just a game and games are supposed to be fun.
If you are a novice, none of these things apply to you. please just do your best. Your speaks are solely dependent on you being kind and nice to everyone in the room.- I don't need to be on the email chain! You all amaze me every day!

I'm Subbi and I did Policy debate at the University of Iowa. GO HAWKS I debated for 3 years at Niles West.
First things first, make arguments you are comfortable and happy with. This is an activity that is inherently for the students participating in it. Read what you want to read and tell me why it matters and why I should vote on it. That being said please don't say racist/sexist/ableist language during a round. I'm just not gonna vote on racism good.
@Both Aff and Neg- Making fewer arguments that are extremely warranted is better than making more arguments that are not as warranted. I love common sense arguments and analytics. I don't think you need a card for every argument you make. If you make a persuasive analytic I'm all for that. I think debaters should be able and be encouraged to make arguments outside of cards. I prefer structural impacts over extinction-level impacts if you do make an extinction impact, have a really good internal link chain analysis.
@Policy Aff- Policy affs are really precise and garner GOOD SKILLS and I love them. I LOVE theory and I have a very low threshold for voting on it. I don't like really long case overviews. I will always weigh the affirmative unless told otherwise by the Neg. Winning against a one-off K in front of me requires you to at least win the Perm and a no link argument. I am very biased towards structural and ontological impacts like I don't think extinction outweighs everyday mundane violence, that being said have impact defense.
@Non-Traditional Affirmatives- Non-traditional affirmatives are really fun and give good EDUCATION and I love them. Non-Traditional Affs don't have to win that the Ballot is key in front of me, I will hold them to the same standard I hold the policy affs to, which is "you have to prove that the aff is a good idea. I need the aff to at least be reasonably within the bounds of the resolution.
@Policy Neg- Please don't read spark, death good, or PIC/KS.
@K Neg- If you're a one-off K team, please have a good explanation of your Links. You don't need to win an Alt in front of me to win the K, but you have to win impacts and framing, and why your theory means the aff can not solve or turns the case. Please have great answers to the permutation because I think most times the permutation is probably good, and I admit that I lean aff when it comes to permutations In one-off rounds.
@Neg Vs Non-Traditional Affs- If your ammo against non-traditional affs is two off cap and FW, lose the cap in front of me and just read external impacts that the aff can't solve but can be solved by core policy education. Case debates are really good against Non-traditional affs, Utilitarian framing is good, survival strategies are bad, No root cause. All of these are valid and good arguments to read. Don't drop the case ever. Don't let the aff weigh the entire aff against FW because they will almost always win. I like framework debates where the impact isn't fairness but education and skills. If you go for a Kritik against these Kinds of Affirmatives, I will have a high threshold for the aff being able to get a permutation, especially if they don't have an advocacy statement, but you must make this argument. Also, contextualize your Links to their theory/aff.
@cross ex- Look at me and don't laugh at your opponent's answer. Many people have done this with me in the back and it really hurts your ethos. Please be nice to each other I don't wanna vote up a mean team.

Hey, I actually love and prefer judging PF. People in PF are a lot more polite and they always acknowledge me in the round and I like that.
PRO- Strongly prefer if pro always goes first in speeches and in the crossfire. I think to me a good pro is very persuasive and organized. I would prefer if you have two well-written and well-explained advantages rather than a bunch of shallow ones. I don't need you to extend everything in every speech but you should definitely have your points in the last two speeches if you want me to consider them.
CON- I think I am CON-leaning but that doesn't mean this is an easy ballot. You should offer good counterexamples, and directly answer their points in the last 3 speeches. I prefer that you have less defensive arguments and are more focused on proving the pro harmful.
Crossfire- You get a question, they get a question, then you get a follow-up. I hate hate hate when someone dominates the crossfire and doesn't allow for the other person to question, very rude. Will drop your speaks.
NOTES- I am fine with speed, I will reward politeness. Thank you for debating for me!

Hi so I have only judged a few rounds of LD, I think I have a good enough grasp on what is going on. I give a lot of leeway for the pro because they have a very short speech when answering a very long one. I prefer if this wasn't a debate about super old philosophers. That's right, I am NOT here for a Kant vs Locke debate. Most of these philosophers were super racist and if you want to talk philosophy there are philosophers today that you can reference.

Speak clearly. Any speed is fine as long as you slow down and read your tag lines and main points very clearly. Spreading is fine. Give clear indication of when you have reached the burden you set out.
LD: I am a true values debate judge in LD. Tabula rasa judge. Flexible to any kinds of cases and arguments as long as they are respectful. If your case is not topical or abusive and your opponent argues and proves that in their speeches then I am willing to vote based on topicality, education and abuse.
PF and CX: Be respectful and cordial to your opponent. I’m open to most anything in Policy rounds. Always stay on the debate topic, don’t wander off onto an irrelevant subject because it’s more enjoyable to argue about than the topic is. Always allow your opponent the opportunity to complete their sentence before continuing to cross.
I’m a Tabula rasa Judge especially in Policy debate. If you don’t tell me how you want me to weigh the round and set a minimum burden for each side to have to meet within the round to win then I will default to judging based on the block and will turn into a games playing judge and will make voting decisions based on what my flow shows and dropped arguments or arguments that were lost or conceded will very much factor into my vote. Impacts, Warrants and links need to be made very clear, and always show me the magnitude.

1. I competed in circuit LD in high school, however that was a few years ago, so I am a bit rusty, however, I do keep a good flow.
2. Again, since I am a bit out of practice, I'd prefer if you don't spread if it's not necessary (if you are going to spread, just slow down on the tags, if I'm having trouble keeping up I'll raise my hand or say "clear"). Additionally, I value narration and explanations over quick technical blips -- make sure I know what I'm voting for.
3. Please weigh comparatively and clash with each other, win your warrants and explain why your evidence or standards are better.
4. I'm more used to traditional debates, I can count the number of times I've read a theory shell/ks on one hand, as such, I'm most comfortable judging traditional value/value criterion/contention or plan/counterplan debates. The same thing goes for tricks, LARPing, etc-- absent some sort of detailed and comprehensive explanation, I probably won't know what's going on or how to adjudicate lol.

I'm coming out from a 2 year debate hiatus and an intensive video production/broadcasting program. I haven't been up to date with the latest literature on the debate circuit so don't assume I know your Jackson evidence is hot fire without any warrants. I also may not be your top pick for your fast and clever Consult CP debate because my hands are not fast enough to send that message to my brain. This might change with more judging throughout the season but I'll let you know.
On to the general stuff...
I evaluate the debate based on who did the best debating. That's usually done through my flow unless you create a framework for me to do otherwise. Run what argument fits your style and do it to the best of your ability. Args of the meme variety are on the table but you would have to do a lot, and I mean a lot of work, for me to vote on them. Please also note that I won't be down for your oppression good, rights Malthus type of args.
Make sure you can jump / e-mail chain files in less than 5 minutes (not for me but for the tournament staff).I will do my best to keep my rhetoric gender neutral. As a generalrule, I tend to stick to gender-neutral pronouns however I will do my due diligence to be familiar with your preferred pronouns and you have every right to correct me on the spot if I fail to do so.
Case Debate
Solid. I'm not the best public policy analyst on the circuit to know some of the nuances of your args so this would require some explanation of what these abbreviations mean and what do they look like in the context of the debate.

What I am voting off of:
- Civility: During cross or any other speech, remain civil. I do not tolerate yelling or name-calling of any kind.
- Understandability: Please remember that Public Forum was created so that if anybody came off the street, they would be able to understand this debate. I am not an expert in this topic by any means, so please remember to explain any acronyms, cases, or arguments you make.
- SPEAK SLOWLY: Do not spread in your speeches, I will not understand you. Instead, keep a reasonable pace and remember to take pauses while speaking. Furthermore, in Rebuttal and Summary remember to signpost (saying things like this has two impacts, we argued this because, etc.) so it is easy to keep track of what you are saying.
- Flowing your arguments through Summary and FF: While I am taking notes on Case and Rebuttal, I will mostly vote off of what you extend into Final Focus and Summary. If you drop an argument or impact, it will not be considered at all. In Summary and FF, be sure to clearly state why your impacts still stand and theirs do not. Be sure to reiterate the round without bringing in new information, ESPECIALLY in FF and Second Summary.

Ev ethics (L25) is skipping more than 5 words in a card, misciting author or article title, cards cut missing at least 1 sentence, or cards cut that don't start and end with the start and end of paragraphs in the article.
It is an evidence ethics issue when not better explained by: an accident that results in leaving off an author, an accident that produces minor discrepancies in the article title, an accident that results in a missing letter, single word, or instance of punctuation at the beginning/end of a paragraph, or discrepancies better explained by the existence of multiple versions of the article. In essence, close is close enough, but wrong is never enough.
Flowing is important. I flow straight down. I flow with attention to detail. I attempt to construct a decision based on the arguments on my flow, in the ways that they are applied. Because I flow straight down, I evaluate debates holistically and make clear and obvious applications of arguments where necessary. That does not mean that I will invent arguments, but it does mean 'lining things up' is less important than being clear about the implications of your argument to me.
Framework:
Clash and fairness are impacts. The 2NR is most likely to win when it is good at an internal link level that explains what good debates are enabled by your model and precluded by theirs. 2ARs are most likely to win when it is good at an impact level that explains why the impact turn is more significant than the explanation (or lack thereof) of the 2NR's model.
Negative debaters are most likely to win when they answer the case and make significant and contextual responses to aff offense. Negative debaters are most likely to lose when the case is dropped, an impact turn is dropped, or the 2NR is lack essential pieces of instruction on the internal link, impact, and impact calculus level that is called out by the 2AR. Affirmatives are most likely to lose when they do not condense the debate down to a central piece of offense and a way to generate uniqueness for that offense.
Kritiks:
Good for KvK. I participate in a fairly high amount of these debates in college.
I think the aff wins in K v K rounds when the aff is good, not just offense that says the alt is bad. I think the neg wins when it sets up framing questions for how to evaluate the aff and neg strategies and then does specific link work.
I am of the school that kritik debating is primarily a question of link debating. I think that the negative should prioritize spinning a problem with the aff - whether that be material, ideological, representational, political, or debate-related is not my concern. I only care that the negative attempt to create a problem with the affirmative and frame the debate around it. I think the negative is most likely to win with a smart, well-explained link argument. I think that the affirmative is most likely to win when it has won offense against the link, be that on the link level or alternative/solvency level, and justified the presentation of the affirmative.
I am agnostic on 2AC framework interpretations. I believe that the negative has the ability to moot the aff. I think that if the negative wants to go for a K of fiat or win that the affirmative should not get to weigh the plan, then the best execution of this is when the negative makes a specific critique of the aff's introduction, rhetoric, or justifications rather than a sweeping claim about microaggressions or fiat. I think that the affirmative is likely to win that weighing the aff is good when they have justified why debating about the aff is good - that can be for clash/fairness reasons or if you read a hard right aff and want to go for 'cap is good justifies us debating with that positions' then I am open to that as well.
Counterplans:
Given equal debating, I lean negative on theory because I think debate is best when the negative gets to respond to the affirmative. However, I lean aff on competition arguments given equal debating because I prefer when the negative engages in substantive debating.
Topicality:
Prioritize clarity and judge instruction, I have not seen very many topicality debates on the high school topic so I do not know what the 'meta' is, I might be unfamiliar with your interpretation, and I cannot and will not extrapolate an impact story for you.

I’m currently a Sophomore at Georgia Tech.
There are a few things to keep in mind during the round:

Make sure to watch speed. I can basically understand anything except the fastest speeds, but you have to make sure that your opponents can understand you. If you’re gonna go really fast just tell everybody before you do so.

I listen in but don’t flow crossfire.

I’m generally a flow judge. That means that presentation matters little to me; you should focus on getting arguments out there.

I won’t be too happy if you run theory or K’s, but that doesn’t mean I won’t vote for you. Just keep in mind that you are taking a risk by running prog.

Be respectful throughout the round. Everybody has worked hard to get to this round and that should be respected.

If you want an argument weighed at the end of the round, bring it up in FF and summary. I generally won’t look at arguments that don’t show up in both FF and summary.

That being said, I’m not super strict on extensions. You don’t have to strictly extend warrants, argument tag, impacts, and cards for me to consider an argument. Of course, the more you extend, the better, but I don’t keep specifics out of consideration if they aren’t perfectly extended. For example, if you extend an argument tag and warrant in both FF and summary, but only extend the impact in summary, I won't immediately take the impact out of consideration.
