Hello Colleagues,

The UH Honors Debate Program is excited to invite you to our campus for our 2026 “Regular Season” college tournament. We have kept things largely the same from years previous, except for a slight entry fee increase and the removal of the online hybrid model.

The tournament will start on SATURDAY October 10^th and run through MONDAY October 12^th.

We will be using the 2026 CEDA College Topic:

“Resolved: The United States Federal Government should substantially reduce arms transfers from the United States to one or more of the following:

• the Federal Republic of Nigeria

• Japan

• the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

• the Republic of China

• the Republic of the Philippines

• the State of Israel

• Ukraine

• United Mexican States.”

We will follow 9-6-3 speech times and have the standard 10 minute prep time for each side. We will have a full Novice, JV, and Varsity division.

We will follow CEDA guidelines on harassment, Novice and JV eligibility, and other tournament practices. If you have questions about this please ask them before the tournament.

Lodging

We have secured a rate of $104/night for rooms at the Houston Marriott South at Hobby Airport. The last day to book rooms is October 2^nd.

Fees

We will charge $70 per person in attendance, including all competitors, judges, observers, etc.

Programs in their first two years of Policy Style debate or programs facing significant budget shortfalls may ask for fee waivers, and we will provide them as best we can.
