Glenbrooks Speech and Debate Tournament

2018 — Northbrook and Glenview, IL/US

Novice and JV Policy Round Robin Information

We are excited to continue the “round robin” format in the Junior Varsity and Novice Policy divisions.  These Round Robins take place during the actual tournament. Each event will have four “pods” of teams, each pod consisting of seven entries.  We think this will facilitate better competition and judging in each division while also ensuring that your students get seven preliminary debates instead of six.  Our entry fee for the JV and Novice Policy round robins ensures more debates and excellent judging for your students at half the cost of comparable opportunities at other national tournaments.

Entries will be granted on a first come first serve basis based on when we get your entry check like in our other events. We will try our best to still give an opportunity for every school that wants to enter at least one team in each division that opportunity. The sooner you get your payment in, the sooner we will know if we can accept your team or teams into the round robins.

Please note that in order to compete in the Novice division - this must be both students' first year of debate and first topic. If they have debated in middle school they cannot be in this division.

Please note that in order to compete in the JV division - this must be both students' first or second year of debate and first or second topic. Middle school years count as years of debate.

Judges in the novice division must be an adult or a student with two years of high school policy debate experience in their junior or senior year. Judges in the JV division must be an adult.
