World Schools (Online) Information
This is an ONLINE division, with no in-person component.
All rounds will be online on NSDA Campus. Information on how to use Campus can be found here:
https://www.speechanddebate.org/campus-tech/
Rounds 1, 2, 4, the first elimination round, and Semis will all be prepared motions.
Motions:
R1 and R2: As the United State government, this House would remove the ban on using affirmative action policies in higher education admissions.
R5: This house believes the NCAA does more harm than good for college athletes.
Semifinals: This house supports independence for Quebec.
Schedule (all in PST):
Saturday
R1 - 8:00 am
R2 - 11:00 am
R3 - Prep at 1 pm, round at 2 pm
R4 - Prep at 4, round at 5 pm.
Sunday:
R5 - 8:00 am
R6 - 11:00 am
Awards - 12:30 pm
Octas - Prep at 1 pm, round at 2 pm
Quarters - Prep at 4, round at 4 pm
Monday
Semis - 8:00 am
Finals - 10:00am, round at 11am.
If the tournament has closer to 20 teams, we will add an additional elimination round, but push semis to Monday. I will also do my best to get sides of the motion for R5 out after our last round on Saturday to allow teams to prep the correct side of the motion.
An average score per student is a 70. The highest student will probably get a 73 or so. The lowest student will be around a 67. There are some places for half points. Having a standardized norm is important for the purposes of breaking to elims without an extremely high points shifting a team or not.
