In Memory of

Jennifer Ann Akers

On February 17th, 2022, the world lost an incredible voice, humorous personality, and kind spirit with the passing of the beloved Jennifer Akers. Jennifer Akers dedicated 15 years to the Cabot Forensics and Debate program and throughout that time invested countless hours into the students both of the Cabot Program and the entire state of Arkansas. Jennifer left a legacy of students and alumni around the state who knew their sense of worth and had found their passion because of the love and compassion that Jennifer showed to all students.

Jennifer naturally found joy in everything around her. She was always able to crack a joke or make light of the hardest situations. Jennifer made each student feel loved, valued, and appreciated for being who they are. This compassion wasn't without success by coaching and growing the Cabot program to new heights on the state, regional, and national levels.

Jennifer loved that the Cabot Forensics and Debate program was a "Forever Family" Once you were a member, you were a member forever. We want to present the inaugural Jennifer Akers Memorial award to a coach who makes their program and team feel like a "Forever Family" with their love for their students, alumni, and professional colleagues.

Please submit a 250-500 word recommendation letter to breanne.selah@cps.k12.ar.us by Friday, January 5th. The recommender of this coaching award can be any individual from students to parents to coaches to alumni to judges, etc.
