Dear Colleagues,

We are excited to welcome you to the first TFA Qualifier hosted collaboratively between a Dallas ISD school and the Dallas Urban Debate Alliance.

Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women's Leadership School is the first public school for young women in the state of Texas. The Dallas Urban Debate Alliance is the second largest UDL in the country. Together they are offering four TFA events on November 3-4: Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Policy Debate, World Schools Debate, and Informative Speaking.

Our event will have several unique components:

*We are avoiding having our guests deal with Dallas traffic on a Friday afternoon

*Informative Speaking will be ASYNCHRONOUS

*LD Debate will be FULLY ONLINE BOTH DAYS

*Policy and WS Debate will be ONLINE FRIDAY NIGHT AND IN-PERSON ON SATURDAY

*The debate divisions will be VARSITY level, but there will be NOVICE BREAKOUTS IN ELIMS AS NUMBERS WARRANT

As this is our first collaboration, entry numbers will be restricted and judge requirements will be enforced.

It is the intent of the host, Irma Rangel YWLS, to fully participate in this tournament.

Cindi Timmons, the Executive Director of the Dallas Urban Debate Alliance and experienced TFA tournament director, will be leading tournament preparation. Our school host is the 2023 NAUDL Coach of the Year, Texas Debate Collective founder, and the 2016 TFA Policy Debate State Champion team coach, Kris Wright. Our experienced Tabroom team will be led by Team Texas WS Debate coach, Jennifer Melin.
