2023 State Speech

Lake City High School

Hello everyone!

As you get ready to travel tomorrow, here is some reading to keep you occupied during the drive!

Coach and Judge Reminders:

1. Please do not arrive before 1:30 p.m. on Friday! Classes will be in session until 2:30, and the parking lots will be packed. Please see parking instructions below for ease of access!

2. Coaches and judges, please check in at the Judge Lounge located at the Library. Competitors will be directed to the gymnasium until the Competitor meeting at 2 p.m. After that, teams will be ushered to the cafeteria to spread out and get comfy!

3. For any judging clarifications and questions, please consult these resources compiled by our Debate Commissioner.

4. All coaches and judges will need to have their own device (laptops or tablets work best) to use for the weekend. All ballots and results will be done electronically. We will only have a handful of devices to share in case of an emergency. Please encourage your judges, competitors, and coaches to update your cell phone number and email in your Tabroom account. If you are new to online ballots, please refer back to the Forensic Judging website for tutorials.

5. Wifi: We have a standard guest access set up. You will find login information on the map and schedule for the tournament.

Food and Concessions

  • We will not have concessions available on-site. However, we are hosting Taco Works food truck which will be present on-site Friday and Saturday. Within a short walk across Hanley (cross carefully!) is Maverick’s Adventure and Bon Fire, Pokeworks, and Union Coffee.

  • Judges and coaches will have meals available for them in the judges lounge.

  • There are numerous options within a short drive. If you choose to order food in by delivery or go for pick up, we recommend these unique-to-North-Idaho options:

The Lake City Space:

We are excited to host you! We ask that you treat our space and classrooms with respect by:

  • Picking up after yourself and others!

  • Staying in the cafeteria area and not wandering the halls

  • Do not touch or move any items or furniture in our classrooms. Rooms should not require much if any modifications to accommodate each round.

Safe travels!
