On behalf of UL Speech and Debate, The Department of Communication and the College of Liberal Arts we are so pleased to welcome you to our campus. Before you arrive we want to share information with you to make your visit a joyous one.

UL Speech and Debate will be hosting a Cafe free to competitors, coaches and judges in Burke Hawthorne, T. Michael Maher Library in Room 119. Students will be able to grab complimentary snacks and water. Water filling stations are also available around campus. Coaches who have students with special food needs should contact Masey Hammons and we will accommodate those needs to ensure all students have access to safe snacks over the weekend.

Throughout the weekend doors and buildings may occasionally be locked by personnel. In the event that a room is locked please contact Masey at 337-258-1235 and a student will be dispatched with a key.

Dining Services:

Campus Food Services provides multiple dining choices around campus, including many well-known retail establishments. Menu offerings and hours vary depending on the time of year. Up-to-date menus and hours can be found by clicking on the links below:

Parking:

Thursday, March 23, 2023 the University will be open and parking will be limited on this day only to visitor lots. UL Speech and Debate will be happy to reimburse up to 2 vehicles per team on this day. Please provide your parking receipt to Masey Hammons.

An hourly parking lot designated for visitors on the UL Lafayette campus is located at the new Girard Park Circle Parking Garage located on Girard Park Circle. Levels one and two are the designated visitor parking levels for this garage. The lot on the side of the Student Union is designated as complimentary 30 minute parking for visitors. Parking is restricted to 30 minutes per occurrence in this lot.

Friday through Saturday the University will be closed during the tournament. Street parking will be available (but limited) on Hebrard Avenue. Additionally, any lot with an open parking gate will be available for free parking.



Emergency Services:

In the event of an emergency on campus we are centrally located to two hospitals, Oschner Lafayette General and University Hospital.

University Police is located in Bittle Hall, 210 Hebrard Avenue and can be contacted by calling (337) 482-6447. In an immediate emergency please dial 911.
