ONW Forensics Invitational NIETOC

2022 — Olathe, KS/US

Saturday Elims Plan

Each event will break at least 6 entries to a final round. Tied entries or a large entry field may result in the final round being as large as 8; we reserve the discretion to make those calls in the tab room.

Events with 51 or more entries will have consolation "semifinal" rounds for the next 6 entries left out of the final. If we have any events reach 71 or more, there will be more rooms of consolation finals such that everyone earning a bid gets to perform a fourth round. Consolation competitors will not receive medals.

The following considerations will be used in breaking entries:
* The ideal number for finals is 6. At least 6 entries will always break to finals. In NIETOC events with between 35 and 50 competitors, we will guarantee 8 break to maximize the number earning finals bids.

* If a clean break exists that will allow a final round between 6 and 8 advancing entries, subsequent tiebreakers will be ignored and all tied entries will advance.

* Tiebreakers are, in order: (1) lower total ranks, (2) higher total reciprocals of ranks, (3) lowest average rank of all opposition in prelims.
