NSCTA Nebraska State Debate Championships

State Debate Reminders

Hello Coaches –

The NSCTA State Debate Tournament is April 1 and 2 and Lincoln Southwest High
School. I wanted to send out some preliminary information so you can begin to
prepare for the tournament.

1. Entries -- Each school can bring three PF teams, three CX teams and three
LDers. Each school can also bring six congressional debaters. The tabroom
site should be complete this week. Entries are due by March 29th.

2. Schedule -- We will begin the tournament, for all events, around 3:30.
However, I would like registration to be done by 2:45. We will have school
until 3:03, but I would like all teams and judges registered and in the
auditorium by 2:45. We will start registration at 2:15. I will send more
logistics about registration as we near the tournament.

3. Judges. Each school will need to cover their judges. If at all possible, please
avoid bringing 1st year out judges. I know that at times it is difficult to avoid
at invitational tournament, but a more experienced judge pool at state is my
goal.

4. Congress Bills. Each school can send up to three congress bills to be
considered for the tournament. Please have these bills to me by Tuesday,
March 1. I will then send out the bills and a link to the ballot. Please send
each bill on a separate document.

5. PF Topic – After polling the head coaches, the majority of coaches would like
to use the March topic.

6. T-Shirts – we are going to order t-shirts directly from the company. Thank
you to Chris Begeman for working with Custom Sports in Norfolk. Here is the
link to the design and the order form. The shirts will range in price from $10
to $27. This year students will have the choice to get the design in a short
sleeve t-shirt, long sleeve t-shirt, crewneck sweatshirt or hoodie. These
shirts can be picked up in Norfolk or Chris can bring them with him when he
comes to the tournament. At checkout, click on local pick-up and in the
“notes” let them know that your shirts will be part of the order picked up by
Chris. The link is set up so the kids can order individually or you can order
for your entire team with a school credit card. T-shirts must be ordered by
March 29th.

7. NSAA. In order to compete at the state debate tournament, you school needs
to be registered with the NSAA and have each student in their eligibility
database. If you are not sure if you are registered or if your students are
eligible, please ask your AD or administration.
