Southwest Championship at Arizona State

2016 — AZ/US

Pref system information

To access the prefs, head to asu.tabroom.com and look for the red "Prefs" tab in the middle of the screen (you will need to be logged in to see it). After clicking that tab, you will see two options in the upper right hand column: Conflicts or Prefs. Select whichever you wish to work with.

We are using a 6 category system, where category 1 means "really really like" and category 6 is a strike. You must rank at least 20% of the pool as a 1, another 20% as 2, and another 20% as 3. While you are marking judges, in the right hand column tabroom will keep track of your progress towards these percentages in the lower right hand column.

The tournament software will prefer 1-1 matchups, then 2-2 matchups, then 1-2 matchups, then 3-3 matchups. We will do everything we can to avoid 4 or 5 placements unless they are mutual and unavoidable.

If you would like for your students to enter their own prefs, there's just one box you need to check. Log in to tabroom, click your email address in the upper right hand portion of the screen, now look for the "Settings" tab in the middle of the screen. On the next screen, at the top of the middle right hand column there is a button that will allow Students to enter their own prefs.

If you choose not to submit prefs, the system treats your unranked judges as a perfect match for your opponent. Example, if 1 team rates Izak Dunn as 1 and the other does not rank him, the system sees this as a 1-1 matchup. If team 1 ranked Izak as a 3, the system sees a 3-3 matchup, etc.

There will inevitably be people you do not know - you should check tabroom.com's Paradigms section or simply click on a judge's name on the tournament judge list to link to their paradigm. If they don't have a paradigm on tabroom.com, you should also check the judge wiki https://judgephilosophies.wikispaces.com/. Tomorrow we will be emailing all judges that have no philosophy up.

Prefs are due by the close of registration on Thursday (2pm). No changes may be made to prefs after this time.
