for the 2021 National Tournament

Judges

Each school will be responsible for either providing judges and/or paying for hired judges. This will vary by school based upon number of entries.  As soon as your numbers have been submitted, information will be sent to you via e-mail.

Once you have this communication, please forward judge names as soon as possible.

Because our tournament is small, long, and the stakes are high, we need to have some restrictions regarding school-supplied judges.

All judges must meet the following requirements:

• Be two years removed from HS.  (Junior in college status)

• In events, be able to judge all speech events.  Seriously, ALL.  If they list they cannot judge extemp, they might still be assigned extemp if we need them.  We will do our best to honor preferences, but we don't want to hold up the tournament because of them.  There are no critiques written, all they have to do is watch, evaluate, and rank.

• You will be asked for a short couple of sentences for judges hired to verify that they adhere to the first two requirements.

• Judges will be expected to stay until the committee releases them. (while it might seem advantageous to hire judges in "shifts", it makes it very difficult to schedule the tournament when we don't know which judges are here and which ones aren't)
