Judging Requirements

Policy: 1 judge per two entries

*All varsity policy judges must have judge philosophies online before prefs are turned on or the teams represented by judges who have not posted philosophies will not have their preferences honored.  Online judge philosophy wiki:  judgephilosophies.wikispaces.com/

Novice Policy: 1 judge per two entries  (junior or senior high school students that are experienced debaters can be used as novice judges).  High school students serving as novice judges do not have access to the judge lounge and should prepare to pay for food just like a participant.  

Varsity Lincoln-Douglas: 1 judge per 4 entries

All judges are obligated for 1 full (not partial) round past their schools elimination from the tournament.

Hired Judging Info and Cost

You may choose to hire out judging but all hired judge requests must be made by December 26th.  Once those requests are made if your team drops after the drop date you will be responsible for your hired judge fee along with your entry fee.  You cannot hire ½ of a judge commitment out, in other words if you have three varsity policy teams and bring one judge your judge fee will be the same as if you had four teams and brought one judge.

Policy:  Varsity-$170 per hired judge, Novice-$100

Lincoln-Douglas: $130 per hired judge (covers 4 debaters)
