Novice divisions will be offered in each event (as numbers permit)

 

Congress will have 2 sessions.

Lincoln-Douglas and Public Forum will have 4 double-flighted preliminary rounds.

All other events will have 3 preliminary rounds.

 

Entry fees:

$10 per student per entry

Students may double or triple enter in speech events.

Students may also double enter in one debate event and one speech event (a total of two entries, but – again – only one debate event).

 

Congress Legislation:

Schools wishing to submit legislation for the bill packet must do so no later than October 28, 2017 at 5 pm. Schools are permitted (but not required to) submit one piece of legislation per each student entered. The bill packet will be posted on this website and emailed to coaches on November 1, 2017. 

 

Internet Use:

Extemp and debate events will be permitted to use the Internet. Students must provide their own devices.

 

Judging

1 judge per every 4 speech or congress entries

1 judge per every 2 Lincoln-Douglas entries

1 judge per every 2 Public Forum entries

1 judge per every 2 policy teams

 

Teams who cannot fulfill their judging obligations will be charged a fee based on the number of uncovered entries. The fee scale is as follows:

 

$20 per each uncovered speech, congress, PF, or LD entry.

$50 per each uncovered policy entry.

 

Awards

Finalists in each event will be presented with awards during the awards ceremony.

Team Sweepstakes awards will be given to three highest scoring teams (adjusting for number of for entries).

Individual Sweepstakes will be awarded to the best scoring student who has competed in two or more events.

If novice and varsity divisions are combined, the top novices will also be recognized in each event. Coaches should ensure that their novice students are properly notated on their tabroom competitor roster.

 

Concessions/Meals

Food will be available for purchase throughout the day in the cafeteria, including breakfast, lunch, and an assortment of snack items.

Judges/coaches are invited to enjoy complimentary meals and snacks in our judges' lounge.
