Judging

Judge Requirements and Eligibility:

- Judge requirements are:

- 1 judge per 5 speech entries.

- 1 judge per 2 PF/LD/Policy entries.

- 1 judge per 6 congress entries.

- *Note that the requirements are 1 judge per 10 speech, 4 debate, and 12 congress entries for programs traveling more than 100 miles.

- All judges must have prior experience as a coach or competitor in the category they are registered to adjudicate OR must completeNSDA accreditation for the event they are judging by 11/12/26. Registered policy judges who are new to the activity must also complete the NSDA step 2 accreditation in policy debate.

- All judges must have a posted paradigm. It's okay if it's only a sentence or two.

- All judges must have a linked tabroom.com account.

Judging Procedures:

- Online ballots will be used.

- Disclosure of decisions and brief constructive feedback is encouraged in debate events.

- Judges should enforce a 5-minute forfeit time.

- The first speech should begin promptly at the start time. Judges and debaters should arrive to their rooms prior to the start time to ensure the tournament can proceed on time.

- Judges are expected to enforce Snow Globe evidence policies, including the sharing of evidence.

- All judges are committed through the final round.

Online Judges:

- Park City will supplement the judging pool with highly qualified online judges in Varsity PF, LD, and CX. These debates will be in-person, but hired judges will evaluate them through NSDA Campus.

Hired Judging:

- A limited number of hired judges are available for $75/day. Contact gserr@pcschools.us to inquire or sign up on tabroom; hired judging is first come first serve and a request does not guarantee a hire.
