Welcome to the Madison Meltdown 2026!

Novice Divisions of Debate will be restricted to competitors in their first year of competition, even if they have never competed in that particular event before.

Debate Events: Congress and Novice/Varsity divisions of PF, LD, and WSD

Speech Events: All IHSAA speech events except Panel PLUS- Original Spoken Word Poetry and Spartner.

This year, we will also host "SPARtner Debate" again on Friday (individual competitors will be paired in round--just one more amusing way to promote interaction between schools)

Exception: Judges will be instructed that Scripts are permitted, though not required. Competitors should not be penalized based solely on their use of a script when the use of the script did not reduce the effectiveness of their piece.

World Schools Debate topics:

  • This House, as the Federal Trade Commission, would ban online sports betting.
  • This House supports investment in space colonization.

*Please note that, as the host school, I reserve the right to combine or drop events if there is a low number of entries. Schools will be notified a week prior to the tournament of any drops or event changes.
