D6 Novice Debate Tournament
2025 — Blackfoot, ID/US
Logistics
Address:
Blackfoot High School
870 S Fisher St
Blackfoot, ID 83221
Parking:
Car: Park on the street in front of the school. Please be advised, Bingham County Ordinance has outlawed students parking on any of the streets surrounding the school. If you have students who are driving themselves or meeting your team throughout the tournament, they cannot legally park on the street.
Bus: Park in the lot behind the Blackfoot Performing Arts Center (BPAC). When approaching the school from the North East on S Fisher Street, this is the first parking lot you will encounter.
Arrival and Registration:
Upon arrival, teams should head to the Student Center. It is the newest addition to the building. Your team can either enter the building from the front, straight into the Student Center, or the back, through the BPAC's main entrance and follow the signs to the Student Center. Registration begins at 8am, but it is recommended schools aim to arrive around 7:30am. Our goal is to keep the tournament running on time. Rounds will not be postponed due to late arrivals.
Invoices will be created and distributed by the end of the tournament.Payment should be requested from your schools within one week.
Opening Ceremony and Awards:
Both ceremonies will take place in the BPAC, which is the large auditorium attached to the school. Please treat the seats with respect and do not bring in any opened food or drink, apart from water.
Student Gathering:
All students may gather in the newly finished Student Center, Old Gym, or cafeteria. No food or drink is allowed in the gym.
Judges:
Judges are varsity, and must have experience in competition. Please teach your varsity to be respectful and remind them this is a LEARNING and TEACHING tournament. Their goal is to encourage the novices, not ostracize them. The Judges Lounge will be in the library. Please ensure all judges have Tabroom accounts with a phone number linked.
Tabroom and Coaches Lounge:
The Coaches Lounge will be in room 208 with snacks! Any grievances can be made at this room, as well. We strongly recommend taking any grievances to the coach of the offending team first, since this tournament is more about learning and less about competition.
This is the food science classroom and the teacher is weary about us using her room because she has been left a mess in the past. I have assured her, no students will be in the room and no one will harm her kitchen equipment. Please help us enforce the no-student rule and be respectful of the space.
Lunch:
Lunch will be provided. We will have Little Caesar's pizza and it will be served in the cafeteria. If students are hungry outside of pizza, we will have a concessions stand where students can purchase snacks and drinks.
Special Acknowledgements:
While Blackfoot High School is hosting, this tournament would not be possible without the incredible guidance and effort from Idaho Falls' head coach, Robin Christensen. If you see her at the tournament, please take a moment to express your appreciation and acknowledge all of her hard work.
