Judging Resources

Hi everyone!

Here is a step-by-step guide for adding and registering judges and competitors.

We will be using paper ballots for this tournament.

To help you prepare judges for this season, we highly recommend the accreditation courses offered through NSDA. Users create an NSDA account (which links to their Tabroom account), and each course takes about 10 minutes to complete. We recommend atleast level 1 for the debate formats for novice. For Open judges, we recommend at least level 2 courses.

Traditionally, Rookie Rumble has welcomed senior, varsity students as judges. We know numbers are tight, and trained judges are hard to come by this early in the year. You can register student judges by "Adding a New Judge" under the Judge tab and linking them with their Tabroom account. Instructions are included in the link above; a PDF of these instructions is attached.

Our priority is always to give positive, constructive feedback to new debaters, as well as gently correct misunderstandings in the debate format (timing, addressing the judge, etc.). If you have concerns about if someone would be qualified/appropriate to judge, don't hesitate to reach out!
