Robbinsdale Armstrong and Robbinsdale Cooper High School is proud to host their debate tournament on November 22, 2025. The Robbinsdale Birds of Prey promises to offer competitive and exciting tournament action in a simple one-day format.

Format: In-Person.

There will be three divisions of debate for Congress, LD and PF (Varsity, JV and Novice).

Lincoln Douglas will be held at Robbinsdale Armstrong HS.

Public Forum and Congressional Debate will be held at Robbinsdale Cooper HS.

NOTE: Public Forum debate will follow MDTA rules and sides are set by tab (coin flip is NOT used).

Session 1:

  • A bill to end Colbalt imports
  • A bill to Increase the Minimum Wage
  • A bill to defund NASA

Session 2:

  • A resolution to save the people of Venezuela
  • A bill to implement desalination plants in America
  • A bill to guarantee paid parental leave

Finals:

  • A bill to reestablish diplomatic relations with cuba
  • A bill to end eyewitness testimony

As in the past, there is a limit on the number of entries in LD and PF per event of 4 per school. Please add entries to wait list and will be added as space allows.

Judges:
You are asked to provide one judge for every two entries LD or PF and 1 per 4 Congress.

Please make sure that judges arrive on time. Teams that arrive without their full complement of judges may be charged for hiring of additional judges or asked to drop entries to allow the tournament to run on time.

If you have questions about your judge commitment, please let me know.

Congressional National Qualifier:
Robbinsdale Cooper will host on November 22nd Congressional National Qualifier. Of note: You CANNOT share judges between the National Qualifier Tournament and the Birds of Prey Tournament.

Registration: For your convenience, we will accept registrations via tabroom.com this year. You can find the site at http://birdsofprey.tabroom.com

Registration is due by 5:00 PM on Tuesday, November 18th. Drops can continue tabroom.com until 7:45 AM Saturday morning.

Fees: $13.50 per entry | Public Forum Team or Lincoln-Douglas debater. $6 per entry for congressional debate.

Schedule: Round 1 for LD is at 8:30 AM. Round 1 for PF/Congress is at 8:45 AM. We will have 5 rounds of debate, semi-final and finals in all events (unless numbers do not warrant it). Please remind judges that they are obligated through Semi-Finals.

Registration occurs from 7:30 AM to 8:15 AM.
