JHS Online September
2025 — NSDA Campus, OK/US
Hello, friends!
Inspired by colleagues who have graciously allowed us to participate in their virtual scrimmage series contests over the last few years, and by the great opportunities of the Springboard Scrimmage series hosted by the NSDA, this year Jenks High School has decided to once again offer a once-per-month asynchronous scrimmage tournament of our own.
This is meant to provide students more opportunities for feedback on their performances throughout the year and also to provide chances to explore some events that are not offered in our local circuit.
Entry Fees are $5 per entry, and the judge requirement is 1 judge for every 5 entries. There will be a missing judge fee of $50 per judge (having judges in important!) and a $20 fee for any uncompleted ballots that need to be passed.
We will offer a Novice and a Varsity section in all events, with three rounds of ballots. Placement will be determined by cumulative scores following all three rounds.
There will be certificates available to print for awards following the event.
Events we are offering asynchronously
- Broadcasting (3 minutes, only voice required)
- Declamation/Standard Oratory (Oklahoma)
- Original Oratory
- Informative Speaking
- Pro-Con Challenge
- Dramatic Interp
- Duo Interp
- Duet Interp
- Humorous Interp
- Program of Oral Interp
- Prose Interp (Oklahoma time limit is 8 minutes, book required)
- Poetry Interp (Oklahoma time limit is 8 minutes, book required)
- Storytelling
- US Extemp
- International Extemp
- Impromptu
- Original Spoken Word
- Monologue (This is an Oklahoma specific event in which students present two contrasting monologues. 6 minutes max.)
However, because I am very interested in giving students a chance to experience events that are not local to all circuits, if there is any other event that you would like us to add you are welcome to let me know and I will try to offer that for you in future months as well!
If certain events have very small entries, we may combine them with similar events.
The Week of Each Tournament
· Limited prep topics (Extemp and Impromptu) will be posted the Friday of the week before the event.
· Videos and entries will be due by the Wednesday, 8 PM, of the tournament week. Any entries without videos by that time will be dropped.
· Ballots will be sent on Thursday morning and due by Sunday afternoon.
· A slideshow of winners will be posted on Sunday afternoon, and certificates will be available to print.
