Tentative Schedule

Because NSDA allows double entry (and even triple entry if one event is Congress), an exact schedule is impossible to determine until everyone is registered and we know what events can and can't be held concurrently. For example, if a student double entered between one speech event and one debate event, those events cannot be held concurrently. If a student enters both extemp events, those two events cannot be held concurrently. The same is true for triple entered students. So start times for events must be staggered and will vary, unlike a regular season tournament with fewer rules and restrictions.

We anticipate that a more exact schedule can be published after registration closes a few days before the tournament. Please check back as we get closer to the tournament date. However, here's what we do know at this point.

• Saturday 8 AM - 8:45 AM: Arrival at Asheville High, Final registration and payment.
• Saturday 8:30 AM: First rounds are blasted and posted for a 9 AM start. (Some events, not all. See above.)
• Saturday 8:45 AM: Meeting for Congress students and judges.
• Saturday 9 AM: Congress Session 1 plus Round 1 for some events that do not have students double or triple entered in Congress. In other words, we will begin as many events as possible at 9 AM. However, we will not run events that conflict with Congress until the first session of Congress is over.
• Rounds continue into Saturday evening at various times depending on which events can be held concurrently after factoring in double entry. We hope to finish for the night by around 8 PM but please be flexible. NSDA allows a district tournament to hold rounds as late as 9:30 PM on the first day. However, every effort will be made to conclude the day well before that.
• Sunday 8 AM: Senate Session 2 And House Finals (8-11 AM). We will also resume events that do not have double or triple entered Congress students at 8 AM. Events with Congress students in them will resume after Congress is finished.
• Sunday afternoon ASAP: We will hold an awards ceremony after all rounds are concluded. We will work hard to get you out as quickly as possible on Sunday afternoon. However, it's impossible to know how long the tournament may run until we know registration numbers, especially the number of double and triple entries.
