Debate and Limited Prep Topics

For the 2024 Knight Invitational, we will be using the following topics for the following events:

Public Forum Debate (Varsity and Novice): September/October 2024 Topic – Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially expand its surveillance infrastructure along its southern border.

Lincoln-Douglas Debate (Varsity and Novice): September/October 2024 Topic – Resolved: The United States ought to require that workers receive a living wage.

Policy Debate: 2024-2025 Topic - Resolved: The United States federal government should significantly strengthen its protection of domestic intellectual property rights in copyrights, patents, and/or trademarks.

Congressional Debate: From the Fall 2024 TFA Docket – We will use the Region 4 Congress Scaffold as follows: Prelims 16-20, Semis 26-30(if needed), Finals 21-25. The prelims slate will be 17, 20, 18, 16, and 19. The finals slate will be 25, 21, 23, 22, 24. The semi slate (if needed) will be 27, 30, 28, 26, 29.

World Schools Debate: The following prepared motions will be used from the TFA September/November WSD Motions list. Rd. 1: This House regrets the dominance of the two-party system in American politics. Rd. 2: This House regrets the dominance of the two-party system in American politics. Rd. 3:Impromptu Motion. Semifinals: This House believes that the environmental rights of future generations supersede the economic interests of current generations. Finals: Impromptu Motion.
