Come one, come all to the 47th annual Monty Python Invitational!!
When: Jan. 27-28, 2023
Where: Norman High School
What: We will be hosting all OSSAA qualifying events for 5A and 6A, as well as a full range of championship events. Sweepstakes awards will be given in 5A, 6A, and Champs.
We will be using the 2022-2023 NFHS Policy Topic, the January/February 2023 NSDA Lincoln-Douglas Topic, and the January 2023 NSDA Public Forum Topic in all divisions of debate.
The tournament director stipulates that any student who is previously qualified to the Regional tournament in an event enters the championship division in that event should they enter it in our tournament.
Ballots/Technology: We will be utilizing online balloting through Tabroom. Please make sure all your judges are set up on Tabroom and that everyone brings a device (computer, tablet, phone, etc.) on which to enter ballots.
NPS offers guest WiFi services in all schools. However, this is still a public school, so the guest WiFi isn’t great! We will not be able to offer hotspots so it may not be a bad idea to bring your own if you have one.
Judges: Judge Requirements adhere to OSSAA rules. Judges must be confirmed by 5:00 PM on Wednesday, Jan. 25. When entering judges, you may specify “No Friday” or “No Saturday” to indicate that a judge will not be available that day. Schools MUST cover their debate entry or risk dropped entries.
Food: Concessions will be sold (support NHS Speech & Debate!) and there are a few restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance to the school. We will also have free food for judges!
For Friday – food and drink (except bottled water) is not permitted in our theater. Please eat beforehand and dispose of all food and drink before entering the theater. The concession stand will open at 4:05pm.
Deadlines: Entries are due by 4pm Monday, Jan. 23. New entries will not be accepted after Wednesday, Jan. 25.
Fees and obligations freeze at 11:59pm Tuesday, Jan. 24 and judges are due by 5:00pm Wednesday, Jan. 25. Drops and name changes must be submitted by 12pm Thursday, Jan. 26. Any entries dropped after this date will be fined according to OSSAA guidelines.
Friday: Classes dismiss at 4:05pm and debate rounds will start promptly at 4:15pm. Registration will start at 1:30pm. Teams and judges should arrive no later than 3:30pm and wait in the theater until classes are dismissed. We will have students directing traffic once you enter the building.
Please park in one of the east parking lots (flanked by Taco Casa and the football stadium) and enter through door 36. Buses may park in these lots as well, but they will mostly be full of students’ cars until school lets out.
Saturday: Registration will begin at 7:15am, IE and debate out rounds will begin at 8am. Judges should be ON CAMPUS by 7:45 a.m. and report directly to their rounds. Parking and entrance location will be the same.
