Bettendorf Bulldog Online Shuffle

Speech and Debate Tournament

Saturday, January 21st

Dear Colleagues:

Bettendorf is proud to announce the Bulldog Online Shuffle to be held on Saturday, January 21st, 2023. The Bulldog Shuffle is our second tournament of the year to be hosted by Bettendorf and we are hoping you can attend this online event in January. We know that travel in January can be…difficult…in Iowa, so we are hoping this online only event will be a good fit for the time of year and your tournament schedule. ALL students are welcome to attend and we hope to see you in January!

The Bulldog Online Shuffle plans on offering a full range of Speech and Debate events. Our current plans include:

Speech events will have 4 rounds of competition. We plan on offering all NSDA sanctioned events, plus Spontaneous Speaking. If there is a change (due to lack of entries in a particular division), we will let coaches know our plan to resolve the issues as soon as possible. This may include combining divisions or cancelling events – but your input will be requested before any final decisions are made. All events will be LIVE and during the specified time slots for the rounds.

Debate events will run as well. Policy Debate will offer 4 rounds of competition. Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Public Forum Debate, and Middle School Public Forum Debate will offer 5 rounds of competition. Student Congress will have 2 sessions. All division will follow the rules/guidelines from the NSDA. If there is a change (due to lack of entries in a particular division), we will let coaches know our plan to resolve the issues as soon as possible.

For full schedule details, please see the Schedule tab on the right. Please note: Public Forum will be using the February topic area. For full topic area breakdown, please see the tabs on the right.

We are hard at work to make this tournament the best we possibly can and would appreciate you registering early so we can plan accordingly. This is our first time hosting this event in January and we hope to ‘see’ you there! If you have any questions or concerns, you can send me an e-mail at my school account at jrankin@bettendorf.k12.ia.us. Thank you for your time and see you this January!
