The Ogden High School Debate Team would like to invite you to the Portia Douglas Memorial Tournament 2022.

Information:

Dates: November 4th, 2022

Location: Ogden High School

Tournament Host/Director: Kaylie Udy udyk@ogdensd.org

Cost: $15/day

$4/person per event

Judges: Speech 1:5, CX 1:2, Debates 1:4, Congress 1:6

(judges can judge both speech and debate events)

 

***I WILL ALLOW VARSITY TO JUDGE IF YOU CLEAR IT WITH ME FIRST***

Double Entering: Students entered in debate and congress may NOT double enter unless it is in an asynchronous event. Students entered in speech events may double-enter or triple-enter. Really, just have fun!

Synchronous Events Requiring Video Upload:

- LipSync

- Newscaster

 

All other events will be completed in person.

We are keeping this tournament smaller than we have in the past. So get your kids in quick if you want a spot!

 

There will be concessions for students (pizza, soda, chips the usual). Food will be provided for coaches and judges. 

 

WE WILL NOT BE USING NOVICE TOPICS

We will be using the November/December topics for both LD and PF

 

Schedule: *Events will be pushed as quickly as possible, the schedule is merely a guideline*

  • Speech Round 1: 3:30-5:00

  • Speech Round 2: 5:30-7:00

  • Speech Round 3: 7:30-9:00

  • Debate Round 1: 3:30-5:15

  • Debate Round 2: 5:30-7:15

  • Debate Round 3: 7:30-9:00

  • Policy Round 1: 3:30-5:30

  • Policy Round 2: 5:45-7:45

  • Policy Round 3: 8:00-10:00

  • Congress Round 1: 3:30-5:30

  • Congress Round 2: 6:00-8:00
