7th Annual Marshall-Spalter Cup

February 17-18, 2023

Named in honor of the pioneers for speech and debate in Springdale Schools

This year we will continue in person competition. We are super excited to add early registration this year....that's right the sooner you register your students the cheaper registration will be. This will help us to be more focused on providing you the best experience possible by having a closer estimate for who and what we are serving.

Registration Opens- December 1, 2022 (All registrations that occur between December 1, 2022 and January 9, 2023 will receive a discounted rate for each entry at $20.00 per entry)

All registrations after January 9, 2023 thru February 6, 2023 will register at the General registration entry fee of $30.00 per entry.

Any registrations between February 6, 2023 - February 15, 2023 will register at the rate of $40 per entry.

Duo Interp will be double the entry fee.

Coaches and Competitors,

We are excited to have you on the campus of Har-Ber High School in Springdale, Arkansas.

The Marshall-Spalter Cup offers a high quality and affordable experience to all attendees. This year we will offer:

  • bids to UK Tournament of Champions in Congressional Debate AND all Individual Events (except Duet Improv & Words and Music) corresponding to size

  • bids for National Individual Events Tournament of Champions (NIETOC)

  • 3-4 prelim rounds of individual events depending on event size

  • 4 prelim rounds of Congressional Debate (90 minute rounds)

  • 3 prelim rounds of IPDA Debate

The 2023 Marshall-Spalter Cup will offer the following events:

  • Congressional Debate (Open)

  • IPDA (HS) (IPDA HS Constitution)

  • Declamation

  • Dramatic Interpretation

  • Duo Interpretation

  • Duet Improv (ACTAA EVENT Ballot)

  • Extemporaneous Speaking (Will be collapsed topic areas will switch from International to domestic each round)

  • Informative

  • Impromptu

  • Humorous Interpretation

  • Oral Interpretation

  • Original Oratory

  • Program of Oral Interp
